Very nice place used a few times now. Older place, well maintained. Staff very helpful and friendly...
You must be aware that some of the rooms are over the house night club, which does stay open most of the night. They have quiter rooms on the back and upper floors if you are more family orientated. Or it is great if you want to party until the early hours..... This is not really a dislike, just a heads up.

The 1812 bar was excellent with well trained and knowledgeable and friendly staff. Breakfast was excellent. The room was very comfortable and clean
The bar so nightclub attached to the hotel is extremely loud at the weekend. I know they tell you this before you arrive so I can't really moan but it's like you're in the bar it's that loud!!! Also, they only let young people in so it's not as if you can enter Bar So and enjoy it if you are of a mire mature vintage!!!

Location was excellent being so close to the beach and restaurants. The hotel is old and a bit tired but the bed was comfortable and the shower nice and hot. On the 1st night I asked to move rooms as we could not see the TV from the bed. Staff very approachable and happy to move us and also moved our belongings. Breakfast was delicious and a great choice. Staff very attentive and friendly
When looking at the hotel at booking it does warn you about the nightclub downstairs. However, do not book on Friday or Saturday if you want to sleep, the music can be clearly heard and felt until the early hours. Great if you’re joining in!!

The room was clean, comfortable and well equipped. I especially welcomed having an electric fan as it was hot weather. Good selection at breakfast and I was glad to see they provided live Yoghurt and a mix of fruit and nuts. I felt I could have a healthy breakfast. Bar and reception staff were lovely too. The location is great. For some reason google maps didn't recognise there was a front entrance on Exeter road and sent us walking around the back to the car park. The front entrance is only a couple of minutes from the pier, very handy
I was there with 2 friends and we all had our own room. It took a bit of persuasion on day one to get the breakfast staff to let us all sit together on the same table even though it was early and most tables were unoccupied. I was a couple of minutes early one day as I was going out on an early excursion. Instead of being allowed to just sit at the table quietly I was told to go out to another area and wait there. But the staff were lovely and helpful serving, so I am not complaining. Just pointing out that it felt a bit unwelcoming at the time.

I could have had breakfast if I wanted to.However there was a Wetherspoons round the corner where I had breakfast most mornings. The staff where really amazing, really friendly, well I would say exceptionally friendly from the reception staff to the room maid. You couldn't really ask for more.I was surprised at how big the room was, the walk in shower was brilliant. The hotel was near to everything, Bournemouth pier, the main beach, the central garden/park area and near to all the bus stops to get everywhere. It was just brilliant.
On some nights they have a disco/music night. This might disturb your sleep during the night if you are staying at the hotel when the music nights are on.However the hotel do make you aware of this in their information. As I use hearing aids this wasn't a problem for me after I took my hearing aids out and got to sleep okay on a particular night when they were playing music in the hotel.

Traditional English seaside hotel conveniently located between beach and town centre. My room seemed recently redecorated and bathroom fittings pristine, except for aluminium shower cubicle frame which has seen better days. Towels looked brand new, also the bed linen. Mattress was very comfortable. The TV had loads of channels and remote control worked the TV from the far side of the room. The room key worked with ease every single time, and I never needed help to open or lock the door. Breakfast was served by cheerful staff and traditional options for cooked breakfast which always arrived freshly prepared on a hot plate.
It seemed a bit bizarre to have a traditional gothic Victorian hotel merged with Art Deco style nightclub entertainment area: I suppose the darkly decorated interior suited both. The hotel does not seem to have a dining room for guests, with the bar area used for breakfast which was weird with stage-lights switched on. It was impressive that the nightclub area didn't smell of booze at all. On a couple of occasions at breakfast all the waitresses had coats, jackets or hoodies on, which made me feel that they wanted to go home even though it was only halfway through service. Perhaps they felt the cold more, even though the hotel guests were in shorts and t-shirts? I only experienced noise from the Nightclub on one night (Friday) but my room was well away from it, so not too disturbing.

Very clean and secluded room well away from the noisy public areas of the hotel. The bedding and towels were like new, and there was a desk fan, portable heater, ironing facilities and kettle. The bathroom was very clean with new-looking fittings and tiling. The TV worked and had usual Freeview channels available. The wifi signal was ok most of the time. Breakfast was freshly cooked to order.
It was a bit weird eating breakfast in the room that functions as a nightclub. It is surprising that there was absolutely no lingering smell of booze or sweat next morning. I'd have thought a traditional hotel like this would have a "proper" dining room! There was a droning sound audible in the early hours, which seemed to be an industrial air con unit below one of the windows of my room.

Reception, bar area etc very modern & clean. Staff very friendly & helpful. Parking on site at a competitive price. Property is close to the beach & amenities. Great bar & restaurant facility.
No easily accessible toilet area from reception, long walk with all lights turned off so a bit tricky. Our room had a bit of a musty smell & as the property is older no air con. I would say fittings are in need of an upgrade. Our other room was much roomier & smelled much nicer. Quite warm even with a fan, suggest bringing another with you if weather is on the warm side. Shower wasn’t great, most of the water didn’t make it to the shower head but came out of a joint just before. Overall wouldn’t stop me staying again.

One thing this hotel has is plenty of character. The receptionists (Naideem & Sophia, if I remember correctly) were lovely, warm and friendly. Even the cleaning staff were kind and courteous. The room was clean and tidy, comfortable bed, good sleep! Brilliant location, right smack in the middle of town, 2 mins walk from beach and gardens.
There was no air conditioning in my room, but luckily I had a cool breeze on the nights I stayed. Though they did have a portable fan in the room, which I didn't use. The room could have benefited with a mini fridge, just to keep those drinks/snacks cool. One of the bedside lamps had a dead bulb and the other had its shade torn. The iron didn't work, but they replaced it upon request.

I love staying at the hotel and I was very happy with my room, it was lovely & great part of the hotel. I would love to be a loyal/regular customer & come back again, it is a hotel I've enjoyed coming to. I loved my nights at Bar So, it is a excellent venue, I love the fact that the staff always make me feel welcome & appreciate my presence. Charlie whose part of the management team at Bar So has been amazing & he looks after me at Bar So & become a very good friend & great person, as much he is always professional, also very chilled & fun & I've thoroughly enjoyed my friendship with him it has been one I've enjoyed enormously & I have a lot of respect for him, he is amazing. I love my experience at both the hotel/bar so, I cant put it into words how much I love coming. I see some amazing people there such as Hakim, Charlie, Alice, I adore/love them all. Alice is a very cool, beautiful & lovely girl & she is a star at Bar So, she is the queen of the venue & a good friend. I highly recommend the Royal Exeter Hotel/Bar So.
I would of stayed another night but there was no availability
