Great location, very friendly staff. The views were lovely and the building had beautiful architectural elements.

1. Our rooms were on the 4th floor with no lift. In the past when we have booked with other hotels they’ve sent an email calling our attention to the lack of a lift. I wish the Drakes had done the same. My elderly mother could not climb 4 flights of stairs. They did help by moving her to a room on the 2nd floor, but we would have made other plans had we known. 2. The photos on Booking were deceptive. It looked like we had a room with large windows overlooking the sea, instead we were in small attic rooms with small windows. When you book online you are relying on the photos and I think it is imperative that these be as truthful as possible so that you can make the best decision for your stay.

I had the most magical solo staycation in ‘Room 10’ at Drakes of Brighton. The hotel is right on the seafront and the pink “marvelous room” I booked has three gorgeous sash windows that look out at Brighton Pier-it’s such a panoramic view that at times I felt like I was on a boat! The hotel are currently in the process of renovating all their rooms into this style of interior, so be sure to follow them on Insta for the latest updates. It’s a 2-min walk from Soho House Brighton, where I am a Member. I spent a lot of time in the bath in my room looking out at the sea, before going to sit on the beach with a can of Pimms and my book. Then in the evening, I treated myself to a sunset dinner at Riddle and Finns, which is the most wonderful oyster and champagne bar. Staff are super friendly and it is great that you can have breakfast served in your room. Will be back again soon :-).

The staff was very friendly and professional - they couldn't do enough for you. The breakfast was amazing and the room was full of welcome touches, such as refreshments, toiletries and slippers :-) Ideally situated for the Concorde 2 venue, and the bar is open until 2am so you can have a cheeky drink when you get back before you head off to bed.

The stairs to the room were a bit of a hike, but I'm old and chonky, so that's probably more of a 'me problem'. The hotel sign is eye level, so don't look upwards for the name as you may very well drive past it, like I did!

A warm welcome on arrival, fast check-in and useful information regarding the hotel, facilities and locale provided by the Drakes staff who were all very helpful, courteous and knowledgeable. Our elegant, beautifully furnished and thoughtfully designed room was immaculately clean, contained all the usual amenities as well as several nice touches. The White Company toiletries (gift bag), complimentary slippers, generous selection of quality tea, coffee and biscuits, Sky TV, easy to access and useful hotel information, Drakes rock (sweets), etc. were all appreciated. It's clear that considerable thought has been put into all aspects of guest comfort at Drakes Hotel. Our bed was incredibly comfortable, the superior bed linen and cloud size pillows an absolute delight to sleep on! Perfectly laundered, soft and fluffy towels in the bathroom, quality toiletries in abundance (so rare in hotels these days) and great water pressure from the rain shower. Breakfast was nicely cooked and presented. Coffee or tea, fresh orange juice, toast or croissant and a full English (other breakfast options are available). The Drakes restaurant staff at breakfast, charming and efficient. All the guests present were smiling and happy, a great way to start the day. If you're planning a trip to Brighton, Drakes Hotel is the place to stay.

I really liked the room, it was a amazing pastel pink colour with a bathtub in the room. I loved the big windows and the amazing seafront view we woke up too. The customer service was amazing also- we were greeted and personally taken to our room by the lady in the foyer. I also got accidentally charged twice for my booking but it was quickly dealt with. Me and my boyfriend also appreciated the card left in our room as we stayed for our one year anniversary. The breakfast was really yummy!

We felt that the breakfast service could have been better. We were waiting quite a long time once we had ordered it.

The room was lovely, with great views over the seafront. Clean, nice decor, bright and airy. Bed was comfy and the ensuite was really nice. All the staff we spoke to were very friendly and helpful and made us feel welcome. from the outset. Location was top notch. Would defo stay again.

Pillows were too big and fluffy for my liking, but that's just personal preference! I (maybe incorrectly) assumed parking was included, but there is a £25 parking fee, per night at the hotel. (Parking in Brighton is very expensive in general!)

From arrival the staff were accommodating and very friendly. Interested and curious without being too much. We stayed in the Marvellous room which was stunning!! Immaculately clean with great views of the beach and pier. Even though we where very central the hotel still owned a sense of relaxation - We cannot wait to return.

Breakfast was a little slow being served, we was then served cold toast and the wrong kind (very minor issue and was quickly resolved, the server was very understanding and the breakfast itself was delicious)

The location was excellent but it stops there. the room was beautiful in the photos but...

The room we had or any room facing the water, you may have the best view but with a very very noisy street!! Its the main road so expect 24 hour very noisy traffic noise which we did not at all expect. The room was beautiful on the booking website but it was quite old. The bathrooms were clean but no shower screen so water everywhere, I mean everywhere after every shower. Wet floors unless you clean it every time you shower!! Room itself was old with old carpets, chairs in the room should be thrown out because it looked old and dirty to sit on, timber floors were old because the bath is in the middle of bedroom hence water once again on the floors! Parking is in front of hotel for hotel guests BUT you have to pay to park- we couldn't understand that either!

The room was comfortable. The windows can be opened - very nice feature. The bed was comfortable. Most of the staff were wonderful, very helpful. The lobby lounge was excellent. Breakfast was very good.

The bathroom was a bit odd as it is a wet room, so the entire room becomes the shower - tricky to use if you don't want everything wet. The taps on the sink are difficult to turn off and on. They should be replaced. The furnishings are looking tired and need to be refurbished. The room is located on the 3rd floor (in NA, the 4th floor) with no elevator, although it did help me get my exercise! One of the staff members was not pleasant to another couple who were unhappy with the horrible smell in their room. It eventually got resolved but she did not appear to care. Such a shame.

Great room. Lovely local tea and coffee facilities. Beautiful little balcony.

Perhaps on the website when booking you could specify the number of flights of stairs needed to walk to the top floor rooms if this is a room selected? In this case, four flights of stairs was no problem for me, and the small balcony lovely, but the year before I was on crutches after accident and would have struggled.
