The Royal Horse Guards is a classic and beautifully appointed hotel. This was my fourth stay at this charming residence . It’s like stepping back in time to the days of spies and intrigue. I was given a wonderful tour and found out that MI 6 was founded here, by Sir Mansfield Smith-Cumming. Winston Churchill also had secret headquarters here during the war. The rooms are lovely and spacious-beautifully decorated. Afternoon tea is served, bringing you back to a wonderful tradition of England’s very “civilized” enjoyment. The location is fantastic, next to the Thames River near “Big Ben”, in the heart of London. The restaurant is excellent. Delicious breakfast, lunch and dinner. It even has an outdoor garden where you can sit and enjoy the lovely park next door! The hotel prices are reasonable for what you are given during your stay. I hope to return soon…. “Cheers” P

Nothing.

The check in area was beautiful, loved the flowers. The breakfast was amazing with lots of choice and in a lovely environment. The hotel staff were all friendly and helpful and there was a lovely atmosphere.

After a long day sight seeing we wanted to relax and stream our favourite shows on the hotel television, this was not possible even after a visit from the technician.

When we arrived to check in,the receptionist was most polite and helpful. She secured us an upgrade to a Garden View room...and the views blew us away !! We could see right across the gardens below to the river Thames and London Eye.It was very special once it got dark,to sit down and gaze out at everything, and seeing the London Eye with it's colour changing lights. And equally to sit in bed in the morning with a cup of tea, admiring the view. The Royal Horseguards Hotel is steeped in fascinating history and has many stories to tell.I would highly recommend a tour of the next door National Liberal Club for a real trip back to the times when Winston Churchill regularly frequented the establishment ! The room was traditionally appointed and had every modern comfort for a most memorable stay in this historical iconic building.

The afternoon tea was very disappointing. We had specifically ordered plant based alternatives, but the waiter gave us dairy milk with our tea,so had to replace it with oat milk when I complained. It took an hour before we received our plate of food,by which time the pot of tea had gone cold so we had to ask for more. The sandwiches were fine, but the cake selection was poor, with only 2 choices. They were of poor quality and way too sweet with very little flavour. Definitely not worth the £55 per head !

Staff, food and rooms were excellent. Super location for exploring London on foot or, further afield, with great access to the underground/overground and of course the Thames.

The room we stayed in was cozy and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. One perk we loved was the complimentary minibar—it gets refilled daily with drinks and snacks, which is a fun little bonus you don’t always get at hotels. The Royal Horseguards Hotel is near the north bank of the River Thames, and is a short walk from Big Ben, the Houses of Parliament, and the London Eye. The hotel is close to Charing Cross and Embankment stations which made it easy to navigate the city.

I think our room was on top of a club or concert venue, and we could hear and feel the bass vibrations. While the music did end around 11 PM-12AM, it detracted from our experience. The room we stayed in also wasn't very big. There's a nice balcony but you can't step outside - you can only open it to let a breeze come through.

Beautiful, amazing location .

Our room was against a wall of the building so there was hardly any natural light and no view other than bricks, only bricks... so close you could practically touch them. The windows just barely opened. While I know pictures are not exact, when I booked the room it looked to have big windows with French doors with lots of light, not a basic room but certainly not the most expensive. The room was clean and comfortable, but this was a trip that we waited 20 years to take, and having a view of a wall for 4 days was a bit disheartening. I also know the nature of historic buildings, and often seek them out, this was the first time I ever had a room situated like this. I would stay here again, and recommend, but request and advise others to request to not have a room against the outer wall.

This hotel offers a charming traditional London/English flair that truly adds to the experience. Its location is unbeatable – right at Trafalgar Square and just 100 meters from the Underground, making it perfect for exploring the city. The standard rooms are surprisingly spacious and very well equipped, providing both comfort and convenience. The staff are exceptionally courteous and always willing to help, which made my stay even more pleasant. Breakfast comes with a sufficient variety of options to start the day right. The hotel also features a cozy bar and offers afternoon tea – a lovely touch for those looking to enjoy a classic English tradition. I would absolutely return here every time I visit London. Highly recommended!

The highlight of the Royal Horseguards Hotel was the staff! Our check-in was excellent with Mahi taking trouble to ensure we were happy with our room. He even followed up by telephone to ensure all was well. Housekeeping was prompt and the room very clean and nicely appointed, nothing too much trouble. Xavier handled our luggage and took extra trouble to explain all the amenities in the room and demonstrated how to use the air conditioner which we were very grateful for as the weather was hot for London. Oksana made us feel very welcome in the restaurant as did all the staff. The concierge was very helpful and we were treated with kindness and respect by all staff members. The location is walking distance from Charing Cross, Trafalgar Square etc and we enjoyed walks in Whitehall gardens followed by drinks and meals on the hotel terrace which is magical. Our room faced the front and was quiet , spacious and comfortable. The bed and pillows were divine. Horseguards is a hotel with a rich history and old world charm with a personal touch of reverent hospitality so if you prefer super modern then maybe not for you. We would definitely stay again.

Please consider installing a grab rail in the shower.

The staff were exceptional: attentive, helpful, and made sure we had everything we needed. The location is outstanding: just a short walk to main attractions like Covent Garden, and right near a central Underground station, yet tucked away in a quiet, peaceful area with no pubs or late-night noise. It felt very safe, with no crowds or wanderers in the street. The breakfast was tasty and well-served. The team at the front desk were also great at helping us navigate the city and plan our days.

The sofa bed, which was quite bumpy and not very comfortable. Our room faced another building, so the view was limited. Still, overall we had a wonderful stay and would definitely recommend the hotel.
