I had a nice stay at Matilda Boutique Hotel & Spa, and it’s a good option for those wanting to explore Hanoi. The location is fantastic, right in the heart of the Old Quarter, a vibrant area surrounded by shops and plenty of delicious food options. It’s just a short and easy walk to Hoan Kiem Lake, which is a highlight of Hanoi. The room was adequate for the price, not too spacious but certainly sufficient. The bathroom floor was a bit slippery, so I would advise being careful when showering. The bed was comfortable, the air conditioning was a lifesaver in Hanoi’s hot weather, and the Wi-Fi was reliable throughout my stay. Another strong point is that the hotel offered luggage storage even after we checked out, which was incredibly convenient for us. Overall, Matilda Boutique Hotel & Spa is a great choice for its prime location, comfort, and helpful services. With some small improvements in hospitality, it could be even better!

I did notice that the staff at the reception and dining area could be a bit more welcoming. They seemed a bit less smiley, and I think a touch of extra warmth in their service could improve the experience for guests.

Location: Excellent, right on the doorstep of everything. Room is sizeable. Very comfy bed and pillows. Great shower, they even supply quality toilet roll… genuinely.

Breakfast is alright, however not enough tables. Also an unsavoury incident occurred: Two guests had too much leftovers (breakfast is a buffet) The male staff member then openly complained to them, including taking photos of the food wastage. Whilst he was kind of correct, they should not have taken so much food if not going to finish it all. The staff member probably could have handled it better.

The hotel is in the old quarter, surrounded by places to eat and fabulous coffee houses. Walking distance to the lake and many places of interest. All the staff wrre extreamly helpful on how to get to various places. Stayed here 5 years ago and was happy to return The gentleman who leads the breakfast team needs a special mention. He was so helpful towards me when I was suffering from an extreamly bad cough. Providing me with lemon, honey and advise on pressure points to relieve ny symptoms.

A lack of a mirror near to an electric point.... We were 2 ladies travelling and needed to see what we were doing. Trivial to many but important to us.

Matilda has an amazing staff, always very kind and helpful. We had some issues with our bags being delayed, and they helped us receive them. Also, they arranged transportation for us from and to the airport. The location is great, right in the center of Old Quarter, and has great restaurants around. It was a great experience!

The room was a bit small, lacked space between the bed, window, and wall, and the building is not very isolated from sound. Even with all windows closed, we could still hear the music outside and all the cars and motos honking. Another small detail is that the shower was not closed, so the entire bathroom floor was wet after a shower

This hotel is in a great location, very convenient. All the staff are lovely and very helpful. What my husband really likes is that they provide information on food and tourist attractions. The food is delicious. And most importantly, what impressed both of us was that we were traveling to Sapa and forgot our passport and wallet. The hotel quickly informed us and helped arrange for us to have our reservation delivered to Sapa that same day. It was a great experience. We have to thank the staff and the hotel very much.

Matilda Boutique Spa Hotel was good value for money. The breakfast is more than adequate. The staff are friendly. The room was small but good value. We hoped there would be a fridge in the room but there wasn't. As it was our first day in Vietnam we thought maybe as it was a cheap hotel we didn't get one so we never said anything, however a few days later we were looking in the cupboard for something else and a fridge appeared. It is a shame the staff didn't tell us. What was wonderful was the location. You stepped out of your hotel to a hive of activity with laundry service, restaurants and markets all on your doorstep. So outside laundry service is much cheaper than hotel. All the trips and tours we did picked up from this hotel.

It was good value so can't complain about anything.

Top location at a cute street. Good amount of sunlight, when Hanoi’s gloomy air allows any of it to show in the first place. Nice and spacious room. Very large and comfortable shower. Curtains are available if you want to cover the Vietnam-classic “open window to the toilet” situation. Taxi service to and from airport was only a little more expensive than Grab and the staff were nice and helpful there.

A little noisy outside; but like c’mon, it’s the Old Quarter in Hanoi, you knew what you signed up for. Although we love going through the ads on local TV, would’ve loved if there was smart TV functionality. Didn’t particularly love the breakfast. Totally a matter of taste though, and there are options for you to get pho or eggs made to order.

Location was excellent, lots to see and do and nothing was too far :)

Breakfast could have been better. Lots of food out in the open and there was ants at the breads.

We stayed here 3 separate nights, so we had 3 different rooms. The double room depends on size we had one really small room that we could barely fit with two big luggage and backpacks. The second night we had a great spacious room that we loved. Other than that the hotel is very central which we appreciated. The breakfast could use some additions, didn't have a lot especially international food. Also, the staff was very kind and helpful.

Level of service was outstanding, they helped us book excursions and transport for our travels and had great recommendations. They were very accommodating for our 2 year old child. Special mention to Katt the receptionist who went above and beyond.

The breakfast could be a little better but the lovely staff and location made up for that.
