Hotel was easy short walk from Southern Cross station. Breakfast at Salted Egg was innovative with Asian influences evident in most of the cooked breakfasts. Chilli scrambled eggs with crab were fantastic. Small gym on 29th floor and reasonable swimming pool on 28th floor.

The housekeeping systems were not ideal. First full day there our bathroom had not been serviced when we returned late afternoon but the bed had been made up - we had to request room to be serviced so we could have a shower before going out for the evening. On the second day a staff member knocked on door midafternoon to ask when we would be departing as she seemed to think we were checking out that day (we weren't). Higher shelves above fridge area were very dusty too.

We loved the view from the 23rd floor room we had. The room was lovely and bed really comfy. Location was perfect for exploring the CBD on foot and for hopping on the bus or tram to Fitzroy/Collingwood/Brunswick.

While it was a novelty that the breakfast was all a la carte and all heavily south East Asian inspired, it would have been nice to have the option of a slightly lighter/simpler cereal/yoghurt/fruit option, instead of a full heavy breakfast every day. It also meant you were tied down to the timing of the restaurant, so you couldn’t whizz in for a quick bite to eat if you had an excursion booked, for example. Lovely restaurant though, just didn’t suit us to have that style of breakfast every day, so we only used 2 out of our 4 included breakfasts.

Great location near the station and plenty of trams running just round the corner. Very good price for a nice room with funky decor on the fourth floor for our long weekend in Melbourne. Lovely view from the heated pool.

Surprised that we weren't provided with clean mugs or glasses, or replenished tea bags when the room was made up each day. It's also a bug bear of mine - we had nice breakfast at the Salted Egg hotel cafe, but while coffee drinkers get a fancy coffee machine for their (presumably hot) coffee, the water for tea was in flasks for you to pour over your teabag, which as usual meant the tea was cold and average. (Marginalised tea drinker here - really wish places would up their game re tea!)

The corner room offered fantastic views over the city. A great place to enjoy the first coffee or the last wine of the day. The location is convenient to reach everything by foot or by tram, which is located right around the corner.

The hotels cleaning service needs imrovement. After three days the room was rather dusty, and we had to remind the staff several times to provide new towels, toilet paper, or make up the room. This was immediately taken care of, but should be done without reminders. The view from the room could have been even better, if the windows were clean. The rooftop bar was closed on two days and also closed earlier than announced, which led us to seek better alternatives. Overall, the hotel should improve its quality standards.

Considering this is the third time I have stayed here and it will be three of many more as when I find a hotel that suits my needs I tend to make it home. At the end of the day it’s all about friendly and approachable staff and wear rooms. You can just chill and relaxing.

The only thing that I didn’t like was the restaurant. This is the second time I’ve had breakfast here and it was not nice. The presentation of my eggs on sourdough with mushrooms and avocado was appalling. Last time when I had breakfast here The avocados were sliced etc. This time if the avocados wasn’t sliced And poor presentation.

The skyline view was stunning floor-to-ceiling windows offered an uninterrupted panorama of Melbourne’s western cityscape, especially gorgeous at sunset and after dark when the city lights come alive. If you’re someone who appreciates a good view, this room delivers in all aspects. The addition to the bath to the room it allowed for some much needed R&R alongside some great Kevin Murphy hair/body products was quite lush. Speaking of Lush! They had the option for Lush bath bombs for room service which I thought was a great addition. The colour palette noticed of pink and blue was a great nod to Asian culture of fortune and joy. The bed was perfect with a great array of pillows and the room was quiet despite its central location near Southern Cross Station and Southbank. The mini bar options aligned with the southeast Asian touch of the hotel with some goodies you wouldn’t normally find in a regular mini bar really making it a stand out. Friendly staff and prompt service made my stay even more enjoyable. The onsite restaurant Salted egg had a great menu with beautiful dishes and cocktails to go along. Breakfast continued with southeast Asian themes and some basic items - something for everyone. This hotel is recommended for a relaxing weekend in Southeast Asia without having to get a passport.

Location - close to NGV, SeaLife, easy to catch tram/train; Free movies; Indoor pool; Coffee pod machine and premium mesh teabags in room; unique bathroom tiles; floor to ceiling windows; nice toiletries; spacious, modern room.

Floating floors seemed a bit worn; rug didn't seem too clean; plush table seat needed a clean (drips from previous spills visible), no answer when I rang housekeeping multiple times in a row, pool seemed to keep running out of pool towels, hotel directory claimed linen would be fully changed after 3 nights, but this didn't happen, dirty teacup saucer was put back on shelf rather than replaced with new one.
