The hotel has a great location, a short walk from the Frankfurt central station and to the New Old Town area for sightseeing. For what my group needed -- an affordable, convenient place to stay a couple nights before heading to Berlin -- we got what we paid for. The hotel staff were quick to respond to questions we had before our stay, and helped watch our luggage between check out time and the time of our train out of the city.

It was over 80 degrees when we visited, which meant that the lack of air conditioning in the room made the room less comfortable to stay in. The room has a fan, but the fan is not very effective at cooling the room and made a loud noise.

We had a comfortable stay at Hotel Scala. It's well located for exploring the city center and beyond; with shopping, dining, groceries and public transport options within walking distance. If you're planning on arriving by car, research the parking options in the area ahead of time. On this occasion we were fortunate to find an open spot right in front as we dropped our luggage; but i doubt this is a common occurrence. Our double room was basic, but well thought out, clean and comfortable. It had all the essentials, including a fan!, which you would think most accommodations without air conditioning would provide; but that is still not a given in many/most. The roundabout area in front of the hotel can be quite busy, but the room windows did an excellent job at muting most of the outside noise.

If it is not an option already, some of the rooms would benefit from having a full or queen bed rather than two singles, for couples wanting to share the same bed.

The hotel is situated perfectly – close to the city centre (and the s-bahn station from the airport), but in a smaller street, which reduces the night noise. The room was spacious enough, the bed was very comfortable, although it was quite warm during my stay, the room was cool day and night. There is a small fridge and a kettle with basic tea and coffee, which I appreciated. The ALDI market is some 100 meters away, cafés and restaurants are also within a short walking distance.

This was not a problem for me, but there is no closet in the room to hang and store clothes in. Also, there was a reconstruction going on in the yard, which my window faced, so I had to close it in the morning to get enough sleep. However, this is probably nothing the hotel management can influence...

Nice location next to Zeil shopping street with lots of stores and cafes. Just 3 subway/train stops to Frankfurt Hbf. Clean room equipped with a fridge and an electric kettle.

The elevator does not go to the top floor, so if you get a room on the 9th floor, you have to take the elevator to floor 8 and then walk up two flights of stairs with your luggage. The hotel wi-fi is quirky: each one of my 3 gadgets (an iphone, a Samsung, and an iPAD) identified the server as insecure and refused to connect, so that I had to use additional settings to persuade them to trust it, and had to reconnect every day or even twice a day.

The value was good for what is offered. The location was convenient and walkable pretty much anywhere. The room was comfortable.

The housekeeping might need some attention to getting trained. The coffee cups were left in the used condition from not sure how many guests because it was filthy. I am not picky about this stuff because life happens but this maybe borderline unacceptable? Also not a big deal but again housekeeping should be notified when the guest is checking out so they don’t try to access the room while guest is clearly still in there.

We stayed in a standard room. It was very clean, with a full set of towels, bottled water, tea, and coffee provided. Our windows faced the inner courtyard, so it was quiet and we slept well. The breakfast was excellent, and the staff were friendly and welcoming.

However, there were some downsides: the room was extremely small for two people — it felt more like an overpriced budget room than a proper standard one. The room also clearly needs renovation. There were no toiletries provided, not even toothpaste — just soap and shower gel.

Location is great, near the Konstablerwache S/U Station and near many shops and restaurants. The room was mostly as expected, though the bathroom was a bit small and awkward, it felt like you were stuffed in a corner to use the toilet. There was no AC, as expected, and the open window plus the fan provided allowed us to sleep comfortably, though we were there in a relatively cool spell of the summer (Temps did not exceed 25C outside). I expect it could get unpleasantly hot in the room. Most of the front desk staff were pleasant. Good pillows, comfortable bed, good water pressure in the shower. Overall a decent room for the cost, and the location is excellent.

There was no hot water the first ~24h of our stay. When we reported this to the front desk, the clerk was rude and dismissive. The water was fixed promptly, but the handling of the situation was less than stellar. He was also rude when we asked to have a new key made, as one of ours did not work. It is also very hot in the summer in Frankfurt to not have AC. While I am aware that AC is not very common in Germany, I still feel it worth noting that if you are traveling to Frankfurt in the summer, you may want to pick a hotel with AC.

Great location. Very closeby (2-3 min walking distance) to the Konstablerwache train station (This is the station you will probably use to arrive to city from airport and/or go back to airport), My Zeil, and all touristic attractions are generally 10-15 min walking distance from the hotel. My room was very spacious. There was a mini fridge and a kettle that were very usefull during my stay.

The towels looked a little over-used and dirty.

The staff were friendly and helpful throughout my visit. The room was clean, comfortable, and definitely worth the price we paid. The location is very convenient, close to the city centre/shopping district, but just far enough away to avoid noise and crowds. It offered a good balance of accessibility and peace. I would definitely stay here again the next time I visit Frankfurt!
