The location near the train station, tram and bus stops was brilliant! There was no noise. Really easy to explore the old town from here. Tram direct to the centre of the old town. Nearby bus stop for service direct to the airport. Very comfortable and a delicious breakfast!

Excellent location next to the railwaystation and tram intersection, very easy to get all over Basel. Feeling of a family run establishment different from the chain hotels. Lovely breakfast room. Very good breakfast to which you did not get bored over a weeks stay. Everything was of prime quality. Nice little sauna where a bonus feature was absolutely correct instructions how to take a sauna bath. I am a Finn knowing this for sure! Our room was on the 4th floor inner court side so very quiet, could keep the windows open. Friendly and helpfull staf.

An old building renovated in the usual way meaning all natural air circulation blocked. There was mechanical ventilation plus a separate AC through the window in our room, very noisy. Fortunately the windows could be opened and we slept very well without the AC. The weather was not hot, nights even quite cool, but I doubt how it will work during hot weather.

The location was perfect - convenient and central and right across from the main train station. A great bonus was the free transport card for unlimited access to the city tram system which we received at check-in. The staff was professional, friendly and helpful. The room and bathroom were clean and comfortable, though we could have used a little lesson on how to use the thermostat and automated window blinds. We especially enjoyed the delicious breakfasts in the vintage dining room with its paneled walls, stained glass and antique decor. We would definitely stay there again.

I find duvets too hot and heavy and would have preferred a lighter bed covering.

The location is excellent minutes walk from the main station. The building is beautiful and the room was attractively decorated. The staff were great. I dealt with several and thy were friendly and helpful recommending places to eat . When I couldn't work the shower a housekeeper came up to show me what to do. I had an issue with my onwards travel and reception staff were very helpful in making sure I received messages and calling the company for me as I had no phone reception. When I learned tha t I would need to make a three hour bus trip to meet my cruise boat they got me a taxi to the meeting point and gave me a bottle of water for the trip.

I couldn't fault them in any way.

The breakfast room was beautiful and old - very stately. The people who worked there were very attentive - remembering my hot beverage choice on my second morning. The food was varied and plentiful. The location is right across from the Train station, but somehow on arriving I was on the wrong end of the building and it was a 15 walk dragging suitcases over bumpy cracked pavement. So I ended up using an Uber. Departing the hotel desk clerk was super helpful and I was able to easily find the train and use the kiosk for my ticket. The room was modest as I did get a single - it really was just a twin sized bed so know that if you prefer a larger bed even when alone. I did have trouble finding the Christmas Markets from this location and should probably again used an Uber or learned the trolly system They are all right their coming and going all the time. I would stay here again.

Lighting in the room was a bit insufficient

The staff are very helpful and friendly. Nicholas is so kind who always helps us. And even the breakfast staff are always very helpful. I highly recommend it to anyone who are looking for a hotel where all the staff are friendly and helpful. Our room are always clean every time we comes back touring around other cities. And the location is perfect.

There’s only one thing we didn’t like is the fridge in the rom wasn’t cold enough. I hope they can adjusted the temperature of the fridge .

I loved everything about this hotel. Everything was exceptional, starting with the front desk staff. Michael, the front desk agent, was wonderful and extremely helpful. My room was spotless and just right. I loved the hotel's breakfast, such a lavish feast, it made it so much easier to get up at 6 in the morning. It was a wonderful experience, my only regret that I could not stay longer. However, I promised myself, next time I'm in Basel, this is where I'm staying!

Nothing not to like

The staff were extremely wonderful & friendly. Very willing to go the extra mile to make our stay fabulous! We were able to check in an hour early & they allowed us to check out 2 & a half hours late. It was so hot out they offered us water bottles every time we passed the desk. Even for our two dogs! Who they treated like royalty with a mat & dog bowls in the room. The free mini bar was awesome! We were so hot when we arrived, it was awesome to have cold water, juice & beer in the room to drink. The free public transportation access, 50% off to museums & 20CHF electric bike rentals were also wonderful perks! I wish we had stayed more than one night!
