The breakfast was substantial, plus they will cook or provide food that is not on the menu should you require some thing a little lighter. The building is over 400 years old and dates back to the Venetian era. This dictates the room size. Rooms are beautifully presented in a Venetian theme. Hotel is located on the harbour side in the centre of the old town, perfect to walk everywhere. The hotel is family owned and run ‘hands on’ by the family. The best thing about the hotel is the people, we could not have been made more welcome. Elena in reception is a very special person who would be a valuable asset to any business. The hotel restaurant is one of the best in Chania.

Having to leave!

The location right on the old town harbor was great and the view from our room magnificent! The hotel was the owner’s grandmother’s home which has been lovingly restored with all the modern comforts while keeping the old world feel. There is an exceptional restaurant that serves Cretan cuisine with a creative flair. The staff are so friendly and helpful - their passion for their work and sharing the beauty of Crete was the best part of our stay here.

The only concern was it would be helpful to have a shower curtain to help keep water off the flower if using the shower.

Truly the best place that we stayed in our trip to Greece! The room was delightful and felt very luxurious. When we entered the room we saw that they left us snacks, wine, and chocolate which felt very thoughtful. The view of the Venetian harbor was stunning, especially at night, and we could enjoy it both from the balcony and from the comfort of the room as the windows were very large. The decor in the room was really beautiful. It leans into the Venetian theme and if you are a lover of historical buildings you will love this. Additionally, the service was exceptional. They provided us a premade breakfast to take with us as we were going hiking very early the next morning and the sandwich they made for it was so good that I'm still thinking about it. The receptionist that we met, Zoe, was very friendly and helpful. On the morning of our checkout we met the owner's mother who was very warm-hearted. She offered us some fresh bread that she had picked up from a bakery that morning and it was wonderful. I can't recommend this place enough! I assure you that if you stay here you will fall in love with it!

I loved our stay here so much! It's renovated so nicely, the Jacuzzi in our suite has the perfect little mood lights. They're also connected to Arismari which has the best breakfast in the morning, and their dinner is so good too! For breakfast they serve fresh OJ and the views are breathtaking. We needed to leave very early tomorrow and they prepared the best box for breakfast. If I'm ever in Greece again, I'd love to stay here again. I'd highly recommend booking here. Trust me, you'll love it!

The room is stunning, beautifully presented with some original brickwork. Plenty of room with amazing view over the harbour where you can watch the world go by. The rooms are above a nice restaurant but do not worry about noise, once you close the window, it is peaceful. You can catch the morning sun as you wake up and the stroll over the the far side of the harbour to enjoy a drink and watch the sun set beyond the lighthouse. Only a few minutes stroll to the old town restaurants. Breakfast was lovely on the harbour watching Chania wake up. We had a very early check out, really easy and staff booked a taxi that was on time.

The location and view were extraordinary- directly looking into the harbor. The room was beautiful and architecturally interesting. Management was extremely friendly and the restaurant they own in front of the hotel weee spectacular. We are veterans of NYC restaurant scene and their rock shrimp carpaccio was the best we’ve ever had. Creative menu - it was truly delicious and world class. Awesome place!

They helped us carry our luggage to our room as there are no elevators

We loved our stay at the Cretan Renaissance. It was a pleasant surprise and exceeded all our expectations! It's in the most central location for exploring the Old Town of Chania and the Venetian Harbour. A special mention to John (owner), his Mum and Zoe for their kindness and hospitality. All the staff were so lovely and helpful. The restaurant underneath the Cretan Renaissance is delicious, we even got 15% off our meal! We had the room with a balcony - amazing views! Would stay here again in a heartbeat. 10/10 recommend to anyone visiting Chania! :)

Everything - closeness of room to the Harbour and the view from the room window. Busy location but good sound proofing in the room. The Harbour area in general was very clean and tidy. Chef adapted to our Breakfast requirements due to one fussy eater. Staff friendly and helpful, with knowledge of the area and locations of interest.

Could do with a handrail to assist getting out of the deep bath.

The location is excellent, if you want to be right where the action is. I was concerned about the noise, but this ended up not being an issue at all. The bed was comfortable and the decorations were a little kitsch, but ultimately cute and cozy. Parking is free and very close. Would highly recommend for anyone staying in Chania.

The hotel is several rooms above a popular restaurant on the Chania waterfront. We had two rooms - one had a beautiful sea view, the other had no real windows and a lot of steps between the bathroom and the bedroom. The breakfast was served in the restaurant and was excellent, though from a menu, rather than the usual buffet-style. Location was fantastic overlooking the beautiful Chania harbor. Staff were friendly and helpful. We ate dinner twice in the restaurant and it was excellent.

Not their fault...the wind and tides were so high when we arrived that the restaurant was flooded. Getting to the hotel door was an adventure. Parking is a real problem. Be ready to walk with your suitcases.
