Beautiful older style property - creaking floorboards type! Lots of lovely artwork & poems etc hanging up in the corridors. Selection of lounges to use, each with great views & large windows to let in the light. Very friendly polite & helpful staff. Although there was a limited choice of cooked breakfast I was able to customise the options available. Loved the porridge. About a 5/10 min drive from the town centre (not safe to walk) and slightly back from the main road so felt more rural and quiet without it being too remote. Our room had a lovely big bathroom with high ceiling so didn't get too steamed up! Breakfast room had a nice outlook to the gardens.

Unfortunately there were no scones & tea as shown in the gallery photos. This was one of the things I had been looking forward to but no mention of any food other than breakfast. Our room was not very spacious, with the exception of the bathroom so did feel a bit squashed - sat on the bed rather than on the chairs that were squashed into the corner of the room. Other slight complaint would be to have some more comfortable lounge type chairs in the upstairs lounge areas - the ones there weren't overly comfortable - more like like desk/dining chairs. Also there was no lift - only an issue when I was needing to get my case up & down the stairs!

The bulding, room and staff were very nice. The breakfast food was very good and the ambience of the entire place is beautiful.

The shower flooded into the rest of the bathroom, so either the water is to powerful, or the drain isn't sufficient to handle it. A minor compaint, but I wish I could have had my own coffee as I had at other stays on our trip. I wasn't given enough at breakfast. The location is easy to get in and out of, and has good parking, but it's a bit far outside of the main part of town.

Perhaps the best place I've ever stayed at and I travel extensively. A quiet, clean, beautiful and comfortable place, full of charm and character, and only a few minutes drive away from town. But what stood out the most is the customer service that Erfu provided every single day. He went above and beyond whenever I requested assistance, had a solution for everything and did so with a genuine smile and kindness. The cleaning lady was great, too, kind, helpful and efficient. Truly a wonderful staff that made my stay so pleasant that I decided to stay an extra day to rest and enjoy the space a bit more. Thank you, I hope to be back someday.

As a solo traveller, a restaurant or dining options on site would have been very convenient.

This place exceeded my expectations! All staff were very friendly and accommodating. The room was nice and had everything I needed. The most outstanding feature of Kathleen's is their breakfast. They have many delicious options including fresh fruit and juice, hot dishes, cereal, fresh bread. All were well prepared and delicious. You will not leave hungry! The grounds are also beautiful...even in October there were roses blooming!

You should have a car to stay here as it is too far from downtown Killarney to walk and I'm not sure there is bus service there. Also, there are no other services or shops close by.

Comfortable room with lots of surfaces and drawers for unpacking. Friendly, able staff, great breakfast with several choices for each course from a menu, nicely served in the dining room. We asked for and were given a room at the back to avoid any highway noise based on previous reviews, since we like to sleep with the windows open, even in November. Ample free and easy parking in the lot between the busy two-lane highway and the house. We were on a driving trip, so getting there was easy. It's an attractive little hotel. I noticed lots of original oil paintings of scenes of the Irish countryside on the wall of the stairs going up. When we opened the car door on arrival, the country air was full of a strong aroma of either cow manure or silage. The smell was undetectable inside, thank goodness, and to our surprise. Maybe someone nearby had just manured his fields or the wind was blowing the wrong way? We had a pastoral view out of our room window.

All was lovely, no complaints. We were a little worried about the very strong farm aroma outside permeating the house, but it was undetectable inside. It may have been around just for that day with a nearby newly-manured field?

Kathleen’s Country House was easy to find, right in the highway. We were looking for a home base where we could do a day trip or two on our loop of Ireland. The staff (Lin) is so friendly and very concerned with our satisfaction. We booked a room with 2 twin beds and were happy with our room and very nice bathroom. The breakfast was great, though we are not big eaters.

The beds are a bit on the firm side for this late-middle-aged body. It would benefit from a cushioned topper. But many of the places we stayed had quite firm beds, so that may be the norm. We didn’t noticed places to eat close by, but didn’t particularly look for them either because we had a bag of food we brought with us and just munched in our room.

Kathleens Country house is located 5-10 minutes from Killarney center, making it a great spot to relax (quiet) and still be close to town. The house, more of a small hotel really, was well appointed with rooms that were cute and stylish. The ensuites were very generous and everything functioned well. The check-in staff was a young fellow who went out of his way to welcome us and make the check in process very pleasant. He also provided a personal recommendation for dinner from the list the property provides. We very much appreciated his help and presence. Breakfast was complete and as expected. To note, all of the staff were very helpful and accommodating. That being said, if one is expecting a small B&B experience, this may not meet your expectations. This is more of a small hotel and the staff interactions mirror that hotel professionalism. Again, we very much enjoyed the stay and recommend it, but know that the experience may differ from expectations.

This property was more like a small hotel rather than a traditional B&B. We enjoyed our stay but it was definitely busier there than our other smaller B&B bookings. Not necessarily a bad thing, just different. The staff were very friendly and breakfast was delicious.

This property all in all was nice. It didn’t stick out in my memory as an outstanding stay but I also don’t have anything negative to say about it. It was just a decent hotel experience you would hope to have during your vacation.

Comfort and excellent staff

No shuttle service to town. It's a little over a mile to town, so I booked with the intention of walking into town and back. The road in front of the hotel is busy and there is no space on either side to safely walk to town. We ended up spending 20-30 euros extra each day to get a taxi back and forth to our destination, which was not something that we anticipated. The place is good only if you have a car. If not, be prepared to factor in taxi costs, because no shuttle service is offered. Lovely place otherwise. Very courteous staff.

Kathleens Country House is a great hotel just about 5 minutes by car from the center of Killarney. We booked two rooms, both of which were pleasantly spacious, well-furnished, and absolutely clean. The beds were very comfortable and provided a good night’s sleep. The proximity to the road was not an issue at night as there was hardly any traffic from late evening onwards. The bathrooms in both rooms were completely renovated, modern, and also absolutely clean. The staff at Kathleens Country House were all very friendly and helpful. Both during check-in and at breakfast, the staff were attentive and happy to assist. As is common in Ireland, a kettle, tea, and even coffee were provided in the room, so tea and coffee could be prepared at any time. The breakfast was good with something for everyone. The breakfast room is large enough to avoid any waiting times. I can wholeheartedly recommend Kathleens Country House if you are looking for accommodation in the area. It is very well suited as a starting point for excursions to the Kerry and Dingle peninsulas.
