Really enjoyed our five-night stay at the family-owned and family-run McSweeney Arms Hotel. We stayed in Killarney as a base for day trips to Killarney National Park, Gap of Dunloe, Ring of Kerry, and Dingle. We decided to not drive in Ireland and the location of the hotel was super convenient to the train and bus stations for our day trips and to the meet-up spots for our day tours. The hotel was also in a nice part of town that was super convenient to restaurants, pubs, music, shops, etc. It was great to spend the day exploring, return back to the hotel for a quick break, and then easily go out for an evening of dinner, music, or walking around downtown Killarney with a cone of Murphy's ice cream. The hotel was well-kept with the reception area fresh and updated. The room was clean and spacious, and the bed was comfortable. We slept well. Breakfast every morning was delicious, freshly cooked, and plentiful with a wide variety of options to choose from. I enjoyed the full Irish breakfast and my daughter loved the French toast and the porridge. The staff members were all friendly and helpful. After we moved on to Galway, we discovered that we had left my daughter's rain jacket and they even tried to see if they could mail it to us! McSweeney's is not a super fancy luxury corporate hotel and that's a good thing (at least to me). It's Irish family-owned and family-run so feels warmer, more personable, and is a good value for the money. If we ever make it back to Killarney, would be glad to stay there again!

Nothing. Even the weather was amazing and sunny the week we were there (mid-April).

We had so much space in our room and bathroom—it was huge! The staff was so kind and friendly, and we felt really at home there. The furniture and appointments weren’t ultra-luxury or brand new, but they were clean and of good quality and made our stay even more comfortable. The breakfast in the mornings was a delight and the attached pub ensured we never had to go without a drink 😂 The hotel is about as centrally located as it gets and we couldn’t have hope for a better location and stay. Book it!

Nothing; this place is great!

This hotel exceeded all our expectations. The staff is wonderful and was incredibly helpful. The location is perfect to walk to restaurants, shops, and pubs. And the breakfast is truly outstanding - lots and lots of wonderful fresh fruit, fresh baked bread and pastries (including gluten free), a terrific made to order menu and great service. The room is well appointed, clean and comfortable. Would be happy to stay here again.

Our only issue was that the bathroom is dangerous since the step in and out of the tub is elevated and it is very hard to enter and exit safely, especially once the floor is damp from the shower.

The breakfast was excellent, and much better than we expected. We asked for vegan breakfasts and did not expect so many options. Too many items to list here but included scrambled tofu with spinach, sausages and many more cooked items plus lots of fresh fruit and plant based yogurts, butter and milk alternatives. The twin room was much bigger than any I have stayed in and the beds were very comfortable. Very clean, great facilities and the staff were a pleasure to deal with. Will definitely return :)

Lovely location, staff and room! The bed was massive (an unexpected luxury!) and very comfortable, as were the pillows. Room didn’t have an AC, but came equipped with a fan and open window which kept the room a very comfortable temp. Bathroom was very well stocked with anything you could need, and staff was very friendly with any requests!

Complimentary WiFi was a bit on/off during our stay, but other than that there are no complaints!

Local family run classy hotel with rare elevator in great location right next to busiest stretch of town, perfect for road trip with big parking lot across the street and around the corner that are free after 6:30 pm. Breakfast selection is diverse and generous, room is clean, blankets are warm, bed is super comfortable and not sagging...they supply fancy Irish water and bathroom soap and shampoo also, would look to stay here again on future trips for sure!

It was a gorgeous sunny September day in Killarney National Park absolutely no complaints!

I liked everything about this hotel.Very clean ,central location. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. The breakfast was fantastic.And we had food in the bar one evening, and it was also very nice.

The only negative was that our room was a small double room and was very warm .There was a fan there in the room that we used .If you dont mind leaving a fan on at night, that shouldn't be a problem. Other than that, I can't fault this hotel.

Hotel is located right in town. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Jason, the bartender, suggested we book a bus tour for Ring of Kerry and he arranged it for us with Wild Kerry Tours. Dave, the driver, was great and we learned a lot. Was nice to take a day off driving. Room was spacious and the breakfast was delicious!! Would recommend this hotel and would definitely stay here again! Thank you!

No concerns or issues. You do have to park in the car park just up the side street from the hotel, but it was only three euro for overnight parking!

Excellent location that is easy walking distance to everything in Killarney. Clean and quiet rooms, especially if you are not facing the front. Breakfast was varied and high quality, with very friendly wait staff.

Loading and unloading luggage can be a little challenging since the hotel is at a busy intersection, with very limited short-term parking. However, a paid parking lot is about a block away and street parking is free after 6:30pm and on Sundays.

Great town centre location, car park opposite and easy walking into town bars, shops and restaurants. Wonderful welcome from Kellie and lovely room facilities, top floor room which was large, bright and airy, great view and quiet. Great advice from Kellie over Ring of Kerry and other tourism ideas, bar side of property was great too and overall all the staff was welcoming. Room facilities in bathroom were great, breakfast was excellent with a great choice of fresh options, and traditional Irish of course with was fantastic! Overall we loved it, well done to the McSweeney family and staff for a fantastic experience!

Only minor gripe was no tea or coffee facilities in room so something to note if you like a morning cuppa, although there was the offer of a free tea or coffee in bar for residents.
