It was good to have a kitchen and staff were good providing us with a dining table and chairs. The room was a good size and was nice to have an outdoor grass area and gardens right outside the rooms ranch sliders. Nice large television and a reasonably good selection of channels.

The floor/carpet was absolutely filthy!!! Had to keep our shoes on all the time otherwise your feet or socks ended up black. The wifi was very weak. Too weak to connect to Chrome Cast. Forget trying to be able to work on laptop or iPad while there. Lots if late comings and goings with other guests being quite loud late in the evening and very early mornings. Main bed very hard.

Room was clean and tidy. Friendly receiption. Good space for a family with comfy bed. Big bathroom. Has almost everything you need. Bonus is you can cook in your room as they have a basic kitchen inside the room. I was in the restaurant twice when I was in Christchurch and it is a really good restaurant with yummy foods. Unluckily it is closed in my stay. Looking forward to to dine in again.

Inside room was clean but there is a sliding door to the yard and it is some of bird shits/ duck shit outside. So be careful to walk out please. Inside one bedroom has 2 block of skylights with you couldn't turn it off until sunset at 10pm. So if you travel in the summer like me and wanna have a nap or sleep early at 9pm, it is so bright and you couldn't sleep when you tired.

This property was fantastic! We were pleasantly surprised at how large, well equipped and very clean the room was! The staff was lovely, professional & friendly and after a long drive asked if we would like complimentary milk and nibbles. Gave us a quick rundown of where all the facilities were located and went above and beyond to help. The cleaning team were also very professional and lovely and friendly and did such a great job keeping our room clean. This is a perfect place to accomodate 5 people. For a hotel, we found this excellent accomodation.

Location was great for heading to the airport. The restaurant on site was much appreciated. Beds were very comfy and the triple room had a good amount of space for three people and large suitcases.

We were devastated to find the cafe closed for breakfast on Wednesday. We had planned to simply eat here, check out and head to the airport for simplicity. If we had known we would have taken advantage of the breakfast packs delivered to the room, however we didn't find out until we went to dinner at the restaurant and by that time it was too late to order the breakfast packs.

Mostly everything fulfilled our expectations.

We were booked into the restaurant for my mother 70th birthday on Friday 7th February. As a qualified chef the food was bland, limited in presentation and very disappointing. The roast was the the highest rated of 6/10. The custard and the rice dish tasted burnt. This experience and payment of the 50 heads was disappointing Chefs need to enjoy preparation and season. The restaurant requires quality food to be able to balance the hotel.

Everything was fabulous, the only downfall I had was the milk kept freezing solid even when I turned the fridge down to make it warmer, that could easily be put down to going in the winter. I was able to turn it liquid again popping it in the sink with warm water while waiting for the jug to boil. Otherwise, I was happy with the service, staff, rooms, and what was provided for use was above and beyond what I was expecting. I would happily stay again. Mall was a short walk down the road if you needed anything. A+++++++++

This was our 2nd time at The Garden Hotel. We stayed 2 nights at the beginning of our trip before heading around the South Island and stayed the very last night here in the 2-bedroom family room which was a lot more comfortable and plenty of space for the four of us, with separate rooms. The hotel was very clean and comfortable, the lovely reception staff were always professional and pleasant. The hotel wasn't too far from the Christchurch CBD, Riverside Markets were a treat. So many places to venture in Christchurch, especially going on the tram.

The fact that it had everything - free wifi, free parking, toiletries, towels, linen, pillows, basic kitchen stuff. Was also given a 50% off voucher on a hot beverage so that was a nice touch. Staff is great. At the cafe as well as reception and cleaners. A 2-3 min drive from a great mall too! Will DEFINITELY consider this when visiting ChCh.

Nothing really. I understood that I’m getting what a paid for so wasn’t expecting anything fancy or glamorous

All excellent. Three minor maintainence items need attention. 1. the shower supports need to be secured to the wall. 2. The double bed should to be replaced as it sinks into the middle causing roll together. 3. The door handle to the shower bathroom needs to be secured and will not lock. Tks.

We came to Christchurch for a 21st birthday. Rather than stay with family, we decided to book into the Garden Hotel, as it was in the area where our family lived. We had an absolutely wonderful stay. Our room was warm, clean and comfortable. The daily cleaning services were excellent. Will definitely stay again.
