Jan, the host is so friendly, kind and hospitable. We booked a queen suite but she kindly offered us the tree top apartment. She was so sweet and even provided us complimentary snacks and food. We went during winter and the rooms were very warm and cosy. We got to learn through conversations with Jan the history of her family estate and she also recommended places to eat and go to. The estate itself is beautifully peaceful and calming. If you are an animal lover, you may be lucky to run into two friendly cats Tom and Whiskers, Jack the dog and other friendly animals. We also used the outdoor spa in the evening times. Jan each time lit the outdoor fireplace and candles making the experience so relaxing and magical. I did go with my sister but every feature of the estate is so romantic and peaceful. It was truly a lovely stay and I would definitely stay there again. Thank you Jan and the Stewart Family!

The property was so beautiful me and my husband both loved it and was so excited for our stay!

We were hoping to sit in the lounge area after we had been out for dinner but they had locked the door so we had to go back to our room. We understand why they might do this however would be nice for guests to have areas other than outside to be able to relax other than just the room, this is not a huge issue nor did we feel the need to bring it up just an idea.

The location is perfect for Palmerston and Fielding, it is a beautiful place to relax and recuperate. The breakfast was delicious with continental having an array of fruits and cereals, they make their own muesli and stewed fruit. Fresh orange juice and croissants 😋 The full breakfast is extra and delicious. Boutique bedrooms and gorgeous lounge.

The location was wonderful and the photos of the property don’t do it justice, as it is very special and beautiful. The opportunity to have a guided tour of the property and the farm was not expected but very much appreciated and enjoyable.

This property was perfect in every way. Beautifully presented, quiet, private, stunning views and friendly welcoming hosts. Continental breakfast had a good variety of fresh bread, cereals, yoghurt and jams.

Everything, wonderful hosts, engaging and interesting. Enjoyed a complementary lovely glass of wine with our hosts and other guests. The history of the property is worth the visit alone. Portrays New Zealand farming at its best. Highly recommend to everyone.

We loved the remote aspect of the property and the immaculately kept grounds. we stayed in the apartment that was seperate from the main house and it was very private and spotless. Arriving late in the day while touring on motorcycles the owners bent over backwards to make us feel welcome and were extremely accomodating. The outdoor spa area was awesome with the fire lit especially for us was the icing on the cake, very welcome after a day on a motorbike.

A very lovely secluded country getaway. Very quiet with a lovely view of surrounding farmland. Staff were very friendly and polite and greeted us welcomely upon arrival and anytime they saw us relaxing outside.

Nothing, absolutely amazing

We enjoyed everything about Hiwinui- from the seclusion of our accommodation to the warmth of the owners. We were given an unexpected tour of this large property, half of which lies within the boundaries of the city of Palmerston North, and found the ‘light’ platter we ordered as our evening meal to be the most satisfying we’d ever had. We were also very impressed by initiatives undertaken by the owners and their family to reduce the impact of farming practices on the land through massive riparian plantings and stock reduction. We thoroughly recommend a stay at Hiwinui.

It can be very wet in Palmerston North.

Travelled back from Christchurch to Auckland with my daughter who was coming home from Uni. This was a lovely place to stay. Fully appointed with all you could possibly need and such a picture perfect setting its just wonderful. Highly recommend.
