Overall, the experience was positive. The mountain view, the renovated spa, and the incredibly skilled massage therapist really saved the situation! However, there were some significant drawbacks. There was a clear mismatch between price and quality. The rooms are outdated in style and very small. The reception staff were unfriendly and unprofessional. Everything took them an unreasonably long time to process. We had an issue with loud noise coming from the ventilation in our room, which made it impossible to sleep or relax. The management completely ignored our complaints at first. Only after two days of pressure did they start to respond! We asked to change rooms, but they didn’t have a room available in the same category and demanded an extra payment for the upgrade. That is outrageous and unacceptable, especially considering we had already endured two sleepless nights! Eventually, we were given a better room — but only after a lot of effort on our part. This left us with a very unpleasant aftertaste and disappointment from our stay. It’s disheartening and shows a lack of respect for hotel guests.

The hotel sits high overlooking Zermatt and is close to the Sunnegga lift. It has a traditional, old-school Swiss feel to it--which we really liked. There is an awesome tunnel in the village that leads to a lift for easy access to the hotel. Our room had a great view of the Matterhorn when the weather allowed. The breakfast was delicious and loved by everyone in our family. The linens were cozy and comfortable. The hotel staff serviced our room every day and provided turn-down service at night. The convenient boot room with warmers and locked ski room were much appreciated. The deck provided a great view of the village apres ski. And the cozy bar was a nice final stop in the evenings.

We loved almost everything about the hotel and our experience. If I had to name one thing, it would be that the hot tubs in the spa area were warm and not hot. However, the lower temperature may be a cultural difference; it was not what we were used to.

Right from the time they picked us up from the train station, the experience was nothing short of WOW. The Hotel itself is very well located, right next to the Ski lifts. If you have kids, they'd love the entrance to the hotel, from a tunnel. The facilities and amenities at the property are all very good and efficient. Extra points for the staff who are extremely courteous and always ready to help.

The hotel has outstanding views of Matterhorn. Also the breakfast was phenomenal. The staff is super helpful and always is willing to share a lot of tips about zermatt. Regarding the location, the hotel is just a 2 minutes walk to the Sunnegga Rothorn lifts which make it really convenient if you plan to enjoy the ski station. Finally the hotel provides a shuttle service from/to zermatt train station. Will definitely come back

Schoenegg hotel in Zermatt has a unique position offering an unrestricted view of Matterhorn, very comfortable and importantly with a friendly helpful staff - an example of Swiss hospitality. The breakfast is exceptional and the restaurant offers very high quality menu.

Cozy, great location, quality at all levels, from staff to the food and service! Warm, welcoming, plus we had a room with a spectacular view, the restaurant as well, the direct access to the ski room was a plus! We will definitely return, maybe in summer to enjoy Zermatt’s beautiful setting and the wide range of activities that it offers!

This hotel is amazing! You can’t beat the full on Matterhorn views from the balconies. You take a tunnel to get into the hotel bc it’s up on the hillside. It’s just such a special property and so close to walk to everything in the town. We ate at the restaurant which was fabulous and the included breakfast is wonderful! We also used the spa which was super relaxing. Highly recommend!!

Nothing, amazing hotel!

Staying in this hotel unexpectedly became the highlight of the trip to Switzerland. The view from the room was stunning - from sunrise to sunset, it has the best view in Zermatt. The staff were all very helpful and friendly. Breakfast was great too. We also like the cool entrance to the hotel. It was a superb experience staying there.

cozy hotel with amazing view and wonderful staff and excellent food.

the property is a 300 meter walk from the elevator that takes you to the gondola. The hotel mentioned ski in/ski out access but that was not the case. We had to climb up the stairs and walk up a small hill, was very exhausting for some people. The shuttle service is only available for arrivals and departures.

Fantastic location, spectacular views of the Matterhorn from room and restaurant. Great breakfast and dinner. Friendly and helpful staff throughout. Nice electric car to collect and deliver you to the train station. Room was spacious and clean with really comfortable large bed.

It’s pricey but worth it.
