Rooms abit dated and most of the staff miserable

We had a lovely couple of nights here, the location on the beachfront was ideal and we had really sunny days when we stayed. The staff were friendly and they had left a nice card and complimentary drinks for our anniversary. The room was nice and the bathroom on the raised platform was lush. We had breakfast both days which was nice. We used the pool facilities next door which meant we could go for a swim and was able to lounge around the outdoor pool and sunbathe! We ate at the Ventana Grande Cafe for dinner on one of the nights and the steak meal we had was tasty. The only things I would say could do with some improvement was details on the decor. There were places where the wallpaper was tripped off, carpet was coming up and black tape was used to stick it down. The mattresses could also don’t replacing as the springs were poking out the side but I still slept comfortably. Adding a topper could increase the longevity and comfort of the mattress. The tv in the bedroom should offer smart tv options as they still used an external aerial with the two prongs and the signal would often drop out or become interrupted. It was manageable though. It was this attention to detail that let it down a bit but overall a very pleasant stay and I would return.

We love it here .. the staff are so lovely and very attentive the hotel is lovely and the rooms are great we especially enjoy a balcony room. , food is excellent 👌 and the service couldn't have been better especially how attentive they were to our kids at breakfast, it was the best breakfast we've ever had as a family 😍

Our last stay here was lovely however we did spot a couple of faults in the room clean, when we arrived at check in we found some rubbish under the kids bunk beds and an old check in/out card with another customers details on. I think the room clean could have been more thorough but other than that our stay was great.

Amazing room it was perfect for my partner's birthday and valentines day and they had kindly left a heart shaped towel and card for him on the bed. The room was so spacious and lovely decor and the sea view was perfect. We had a lovely sunset. We didn't want to leave. We also loved the bar area and restaurant and had a great lunch. He bought me jewellery from the reception area in a lovely black case which was a nice surprise. Prosecco on arrival - lovely touch. Plenty of live events going on at the weekends. Parking worked out fine. Easy to walk to anything in Bournemouth - you can see the pier from your room.

We were really happy with our stay. If I had to LOOK for something to improve, the pool in the next-door hotel Suncliff could do with an update / better cleanliness, and we asked twice for the sauna to be turned on but took a long time and wasn't clear. It needs a switch the guests can use? Maybe a drinking water machine? It's so great that this facility is included with your room even in another hotel, especially when it is too cold to use the outdoor Cumberland pool, but it just needs a little improving maybe a jacuzzi bit on the pool steps and a steam room could really raise the bar. Maybe the 20s decor/ theme could also be brought across. Just a thought. We loved our time.

I stayed at this hotel because it was so very different than others in Bournemouth and because I loved the art deco architecture. The hotel has art deco features throughout whicha has been followed through with the interior design and colours. The room was larger than expected, quiet and very comfortable and very clean. The bed was super comfortable. I had a lovely one night stay. I had an early dinner in the restaurant which was delicious and the service amazing. All the staff were efficient, professional and very helpful. What a delightful hotel and when I'm in Bournemoutth again I will book the 1930s old grand Cumberland Hotel.

The location was good. Liked the outdoor pool. Liked the idea of the hotel being a chain and being able to use the different hotels to use the different services.

I didn’t like the service from the spa. I rang several times to book in some treatments and went to the hotel itself and no one got back to my messages for me to be able book in an appointment. The reception staff from the hotel in which the spa was in, told me to book online which I did up until it asked me for two numbers of my PIN numbers when asking for payment. As I didn’t not feel this was an appropriate question to ask for payment and felt it was unsafe I tried to book via the phone. The receptionist took down my name and number and no one called me back. Although I liked my room, I felt that it was extremely hot/ humid and would have benefited with having a mini fridge for cold drinks.

We loved the outside pool area and there was a beautiful living room / seating area. Which was perfect after a long day out to just chill out. We like how there was different themed nights in the great hall. And my partner loved the fact he could watch the football in the great hall instead of leaving the hotel to find somewhere to watch it. Breakfast was lovely and fresh everyday. The staff were super friendly and helped us with everything we needed

The only thing I didn't like was the fold out bed. When I booked it said I had a room with 3 beds not 1 with a fold out bed. However I don't want to complain because they put a proper bed in our room that same day after I told them I wasn't comfortable on the fold out

Location was great. Just enough out of the way to be quiet at night but 15/20minute walk to town and seafront. Our room was spacious, clean and air con was a welcome addition. Staff were friendly and accommodating. Room cleaned and towel change every day.

Only complaint is the parking. We had a blue badge but people were using these spaces who were clearly not disabled. Several cars had tickets on them so maybe we’re not even part of the hotel. We had to pay for our stay yet there are definitely not enough spaces for the amount of guests. Perhaps better monitoring of the parking or allocated spaces would be better. As a tip though, outside on the cliff top, you can get 3 days parking for £20 on the parking app.

The hotel has a great atmosphere, particularly when the sun is out. We had a friendly welcome from the receptionists and from Frank in the restaurant. Bar staff were attentive, and you didn't have to wait long for a drink. It was great to come back to the hotel after golf and have a beer around the pool, it felt like we were abroad. We came as a group of 6 golfers and despite the room, we would definitely return to the Cumberland.

The negative about our stay was the room; it was small and looked out into the middle of the hotel (surrounded by other rooms). Unfortunately, it rained on our first day, so we needed to bring our golf equipment in to dry, however, we couldn't get the heating to work. We eventually got the heating on in the bathroom. Furthermore, the rooms felt a little tired.

The location and facilities were all very good and the staff were excellent. The food was generally good. Breakfast was excellent but the evening meals were a little uninspiring particularly the main courses.

Our room was generally good but the bathroom was quirky. It lent itself to having a walkin shower but instead they squeezed in a bath with a shower over the bath. That really didn’t work as the glass shower screen didn’t allow decent access as it could not move inwards beyond the bath handle as it was too long. Consequently when we had a shower there was quite a lot of water on the bathroom floor.
