Rooms are beautiful with crisp linen and are spotlessly clean. Very comfortable stay

We had travelled to the area for a wedding. The bride and groom live adjacent to the boat so they recommended it and we booked 5 rooms there. On the wedding day the couple asked if they could board the boat to take some wedding pictures and they were refused. This was really disappointing. The bride mentioned how many rooms her guests had booked and were still refused. Disappointing, if we had known this prior, we would not have booked

Overall a lovely experience. The cabin was beautifully furnished, cosy with a very comfy bed. It surpassed our expectations given we had chosen the cheapest room. The bathroom was not as small as I expected and had a lovely walk in shower. All crew were helpful and friendly and it felt like they all wanted your stay to be excellent and it was! The breakfast was continental, of good quality with tea/coffee served with a smile. The location was on aft, top deck which also serves as the bar/lounge at other times. Great views of Leith and life passing you by. A couple of times we had evening drinks in the bar/lounge, highly recommended. In short, a superb stay and a place we will return later in the year.

The Ocean Mist Hotel is a truly unique place to stay – a permanently moored ship in Leith, thoughtfully converted into a boutique hotel. This was our second time staying here, and once again we were impressed by the quality and atmosphere. The cabins are spacious, comfortable and tastefully decorated. Each one is named after a historic captain, which adds a nice touch of character. Our room had a very comfortable double bed and a modern bathroom with a walk-in shower. ARRAN toiletries (shampoo, conditioner, body wash and body lotion) are provided – something we always appreciate. Breakfast is served in the onboard bar and includes a good selection of pastries, fruit, muesli, cold cuts and coffee – simple but fresh. The bar itself opens from 3pm and is well worth a visit, especially on a sunny afternoon. Creative cocktails with a nautical twist and seating out on deck make it a great spot to unwind. The location is also excellent, with restaurants and cafés in walking distance, and the tram from Edinburgh city centre (Princes Street) takes around 20 minutes. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout, and the overall atmosphere of the ship is warm and welcoming.

Accessibility and noise are worth considering when choosing a cabin. Since there is no lift, guests with heavy luggage may prefer a room on the same level as the entrance. We stayed in a cabin near reception this time, which was convenient – but we did notice some noise from the lobby and guests coming and going. It wasn’t constant, but something to be aware of. Next time, we’d likely request a cabin on a different level, as we travel light.

Free parking (though there aren’t many reserved spaces, there were plenty in early spring). Bed linen was sumptuous. Proper milk with your tea, good wifi, responsive heat pumps made the room nice and cosy. The bar is extremely well done, and it’s very cosy with comfy leather armchairs. I really like the quirkyness of a hotel on a small boat. It’s really well presented and it’s guaranteed to be remembered for all the right reasons. Plenty of food/drink places nearby. Convenient access to tram stop 2 minutes away.

Bed mattress was very firm. Normally I prefer firm beds, but my back didn’t like this one. No TV. Now I’m not bothered with this. I just watch my usual YouTube on my iPad, but my partner expects sky news on in the background while she prepares her makeup. I’m sure it’s not there on the brochure, but it’s just one of those things you take for granted. Electric car charging at a reasonable price doesn’t exist. This isn’t on the brochure so this was the expected deal, but normally I do look out EV chargers on the hotel premises and I’m sure this will be important to more guests as time goes by.

Beautiful accomodation, immaculate attention to detail, classy touches everywhere, right down to a wax sealed welcome letter. Staff are informative and rightly proud of their establishment. A visual treat if you're a connoisseur of painstaking workmanship. Bed was HUGE and comfortable, well appointed shower/toilet and juuuust enough storage space. Cosy well stocked bar area, nice choice of Continental breakfast food. Plenty nearby establishments for more complete eating choices. Lovely quayside setting, tram nearby and well served by Uber service if required. Wonderful experience.

Portholes quirky but no ability to open any. Room air heating/cooling depends solely on inbuilt ventilation. Fine in March, no idea how it'd be in a hot summer....

The extra touches of care, e.g. small bottles of fresh milk on request. The tea and coffee was fresh (rather than a bland stale taste we've had in other places). Continental breakfast on deck as limited room where it was served however a beautiful warm and sunny morning. No wide panoramic views from portholes in our room, but there was no need as we sat on deck to watch and enjoy the daily life around Leith. Everything about our stay was first rate, the room with quirky sloping floor, the huge comfortable bed and the friendliness of the crew. They made a Birthday treat special

The location on the river was spectacular. Quiet but plenty to see and do. The boat was really special, different, interesting, very well designed, magical. Cabin splendid and had everything you could need and more, loved all the extra touches, especially the cute cat toy to put outside the door to indicate “do not disturb” great fun. The bathroom was spacious clean and included luxury toiletries, soft towels and robe. Main room was clean comfortable and extremely stylish, bed and pillows very comfortable, the room had extras such as a good variety of teas, decorative pillows, bottled water. Breakfast which was on top deck in the bar area was wonderful, meat, cheeses, baked goods, breads, cereals, fruit, yogurts, tea, coffee, juices. More than enough to give you a start to the day. There was a lounge you could use on the top deck which was very stylish it had very comfortable chesterfield type furniture should you want to sit and relax. Crew were exceptional, very friendly and attentive, they made you feel so comfortable and genuinely seemed to want you to have a lovely stay, which we certainly did. All staff were wonderful but special thanks to The Dancing Captain, and her lovely colleague with the cat called Puss (sorry we did not get your name) but you both made breakfast a lovely experience).

To be totally honest there was nothing that we did not like. It was all so lovely we couldn’t pick one thing that was not to our liking.

On the whole it’s a great place to stay. Room a good size. King size bed great, bedding very soft and excellent bathroom. Staff friendly on reception. Different to stay on a boat if you’ve not done before, but not sure worth the price!

Room was under the bar area, so noisy as they closed in the evening and early in the morning when they set up breakfast. Breakfast was ok. No other food served at any time. If you want to sit outside and enjoy the evening and surroundings, and you also want to vape, you can’t as not allowed. Not a big deal but worth noting if you do vape/ smoke.

The welcome is incredible. Love the reception being the captains table / captains office. They took lots of time to explain the accommodation, breakfast, leaving the key for safety, offered us sweet treats, and then accompanied us to our room. The room was the second from smallest but very adequate for our one nights stay. A very sumptious room and massive, comfy bed. The ensuite was beautiful. A very quiet room. Lovely cocktails in the bar. Bar a lovely room. Great games to choose from too and loved sitting out on deck for our drink. I would definitely stay again.

Breakfast choices were a little limited - especially going for the later breakfast slot. It wasn't clear if other choices were available eg fruit / anything hot, didn't see a menu but thought I could see other things on peoples plates. It was sufficient for us however.

This was a quirky nights stay for myself and my husband as we recently tied the knot, due to this they kindly gave us a free upgrade, towels were made up like swans at the end of the bed displayed with a card and rose, which was a really cute touch. The ship has been restored to enhance all its beauty and has some really lovely quirky features. The staff were attentive and Daniel gave us a run down of the history of it which was so interesting. I love what the owners have done here, and incorporating the photos of the grand work in progress really tells a story. We headed out into the city which was roughly 15 mins in a cab, we walked back taking in some of the local night life. Comfortable night spent and breakfast was continental, meat cheese yogurt pastries etc however nice and plentiful.

Nothing it was perfect. Well done team Ocean Mist!
