Rooms are beautiful with crisp linen and are spotlessly clean. Very comfortable stay
We had travelled to the area for a wedding. The bride and groom live adjacent to the boat so they recommended it and we booked 5 rooms there. On the wedding day the couple asked if they could board the boat to take some wedding pictures and they were refused. This was really disappointing. The bride mentioned how many rooms her guests had booked and were still refused. Disappointing, if we had known this prior, we would not have booked

Great location - handy for The Shore or Port of Leith tram stops also buses into City. Also for all the pubs and eateries in Leith. Cabin was cosy and spotlessly clean as was the rest of the vessel. All of the crew were courteous, very friendly and helpful. The hard work carried out to create this wonderful facility is just incredible. Just an amazing place to stay!
Not a lot of stowage space for hanging clothing - we utilised the cabin light brackets as well as the provided hangerage. Or for bedside stowage of glasses, phone etc. Could do with an undershelf to the bedside tables to add stowage space. They don’t do bar snacks other than crisps or popcorn; it wouldn’t be too hard to do if they picked the right types of snacks?

This beautifully refurbished boat hotel was quirky and very original, designed by the owner. It had the feeling of a bygone age. The setting on the water in Leith was great, within walking distance to lovely bars and restaurants and just around the corner from Britannia!! The staff were so lovely and nothing was a chore and made our stay what it was. The trams made it easy to get into the city and was just a street away.
I love being outside and while the boat had two levels where you could sit outside ( which we did every day ), I felt the seating could have been more robust and softer on the derrier. That said, it didn't stop us enjoying the outdoors. While rooms are darkish I realise it's a boat with portal windows so really cannot moan.

This is a magical place to stay. Our room ‘Sir Harry Newton’ was easily accessible, a good size and had the best bed that was not only beautifully presented but large and comfortable. Every little detail onboard has been thought about to keep the ambience authentic 1920s. The old phone next to the bed to the pull chain toilet. The toilet rolls are stamped and a wax sealed letter welcomed us into our room. The shower was hot and pressure was good. The toiletries plentiful and expensive. The breakfast was continental and plenty of variation with cereals, fresh pastries, cold meats and cheeses, juice and tea and coffee. All served in the upstairs Lounge by staff in naval uniform. This Lounge is later the bar which serves cocktails and any other drinks with a bowl of popcorn. Fabulous. The number 16 bus at a stop Close by gets you in and out of the city centre for £2.20 for a single, or £5.50 for an all day ticket, so being slightly out of the city isn’t a problem. You can walk to The Royal Yacht Britannica in about 10 minutes. We could have stayed a longer.
There was absolutely nothing we didn’t like about the Ocean Mist.

Where to start?! I booked this trip as part of a birthday treat for my wife, and it couldn't have been better! A stunning hotel situated in the Port of Leith and every aspect of it met my expectations. There is no denying that you get what you pay for here. The staff were extremely pleasant and very helpful, and if you are a fan of cocktails, you will need to check these out, very well made with time taken in preparation. The area is under development, so you will find a lot of small quirky bars and businesses opening up. A visit to the Port of Leith distillery is a must. The food there is well worth the money and with over 300 whiskies to choose from you won't be short of choice. Tuechters landing on the harbour is also a must-see with great views over the port as you eat, drink, and relax. The Joseph Hobbs suite was fantastic with a giant bed and a free-standing copper bath to enjoy. It was a fantastic experience, and a return to the area is on our agenda.

We had a lovely one-night stay on the Ocean Mist Leith prior to joining our chorus for a tour. Ocean Mist Leith was a perfect fit for what we needed. Staff were kind, allowing us to rest in the lounge when we arrived far too early to check in. They prioritized getting our room ready for check-in so we could rest up after an overnight flight. Ocean Mist is a ship, with the quirks that ships have: modest sized rooms, not accessible for those who can't walk well, a bit humid, some floors slope a bit, plenty of stairs. But we booked a room on a refurbished ship, not a chain hotel that would be the same in any city. We were looking for quirky charm and Ocean Mist Leith delivered. But it was the staff who really made the experience. Every single person was kind, helpful, and genuinely wanted to look after us during our stay. The location was convenient -- we took the Tram from the airport to the Shore stop and walked a few blocks to the Ocean Mist.

The red carpet to the entry of Ocean Mist sets the scene to what is an exceptional refurbished stay! The staff 'crew' were very pleasant and accommodating and the bedroom and on-suite bathroom exquisitely decorated and clean. It is centrally located in Leith, which is just a few tram stops from Edinburgh (centre) with enough bars and restaurants within walking distance. The Ocean's bar is a great place to start the evening (or afternoon!) as it overlooks the area and waterway and to return to after an evening's walk and eats.
There was nothing we disliked about the accommodation, staff or location.

Overall a lovely experience. The cabin was beautifully furnished, cosy with a very comfy bed. It surpassed our expectations given we had chosen the cheapest room. The bathroom was not as small as I expected and had a lovely walk in shower. All crew were helpful and friendly and it felt like they all wanted your stay to be excellent and it was! The breakfast was continental, of good quality with tea/coffee served with a smile. The location was on aft, top deck which also serves as the bar/lounge at other times. Great views of Leith and life passing you by. A couple of times we had evening drinks in the bar/lounge, highly recommended. In short, a superb stay and a place we will return later in the year.

The Ocean Mist Hotel is a truly unique place to stay – a permanently moored ship in Leith, thoughtfully converted into a boutique hotel. This was our second time staying here, and once again we were impressed by the quality and atmosphere. The cabins are spacious, comfortable and tastefully decorated. Each one is named after a historic captain, which adds a nice touch of character. Our room had a very comfortable double bed and a modern bathroom with a walk-in shower. ARRAN toiletries (shampoo, conditioner, body wash and body lotion) are provided – something we always appreciate. Breakfast is served in the onboard bar and includes a good selection of pastries, fruit, muesli, cold cuts and coffee – simple but fresh. The bar itself opens from 3pm and is well worth a visit, especially on a sunny afternoon. Creative cocktails with a nautical twist and seating out on deck make it a great spot to unwind. The location is also excellent, with restaurants and cafés in walking distance, and the tram from Edinburgh city centre (Princes Street) takes around 20 minutes. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout, and the overall atmosphere of the ship is warm and welcoming.
Accessibility and noise are worth considering when choosing a cabin. Since there is no lift, guests with heavy luggage may prefer a room on the same level as the entrance. We stayed in a cabin near reception this time, which was convenient – but we did notice some noise from the lobby and guests coming and going. It wasn’t constant, but something to be aware of. Next time, we’d likely request a cabin on a different level, as we travel light.

Free parking (though there aren’t many reserved spaces, there were plenty in early spring). Bed linen was sumptuous. Proper milk with your tea, good wifi, responsive heat pumps made the room nice and cosy. The bar is extremely well done, and it’s very cosy with comfy leather armchairs. I really like the quirkyness of a hotel on a small boat. It’s really well presented and it’s guaranteed to be remembered for all the right reasons. Plenty of food/drink places nearby. Convenient access to tram stop 2 minutes away.
Bed mattress was very firm. Normally I prefer firm beds, but my back didn’t like this one. No TV. Now I’m not bothered with this. I just watch my usual YouTube on my iPad, but my partner expects sky news on in the background while she prepares her makeup. I’m sure it’s not there on the brochure, but it’s just one of those things you take for granted. Electric car charging at a reasonable price doesn’t exist. This isn’t on the brochure so this was the expected deal, but normally I do look out EV chargers on the hotel premises and I’m sure this will be important to more guests as time goes by.
