Good location just off motorway, convenient for an overnight stop. Nice reception and bar/dining areas. Excellent breakfast. Wide menu choice for dinner, a little overpriced maybe but nowhere else nearby to eat. Standard room was clean and comfortable, huge bed and good shower. The included leisure facilities were a big bonus, and made the price we paid excellent value. The pool, sauna, steam room and gym were very quiet on a Friday evening and we really enjoyed the facility. Generally very friendly and helpful staff. Only downside was didn't get the twin beds I requested...tried charge me extra to ' upgrade ' , although on my initial booking said both were same price. Double bed was huge though, and as we were mum and daughter it was ok !

Breakfast was self service and very good. Thank you. The room was lovely, clean, warm and comfortable. The hotel provided everything that we needed. My son and I enjoyed a swim in the pool. I am very thankful that the hotel accommodated my request for a ground floor room as my son and I have a disability. Thank you so very much. Over the years I have stayed in many lovely places, including other Holiday Inns. This Holiday Inn outshines them all for its amazing staff team! The breakfast was great! First time I had experienced that I can order ấn omelette the way I like it on all of my bookings in the hotels. Great restaurant service! The staff in the restaurant were very friendly and very helpful. Thank you. I loved the pool and the sauna too plus a gym was a bonus. Late check out was great too.

The room allocated. I booked the double bed and when we arrived in the room, we were surprised to be given 2 single beds. I wasn’t informed at the time of booking neither on checking in that the double bed was a problem! Ị requested for a change when we got in to the room but I had to go on a waiting list. Had I not asked about the waiting, I wouldn’t be offered either. I was not informed at all of any update the following day. We had to move the beds together ourselves, no offer of possible help at all. We had to use the two single duvets which were very small too. The bed and pillows were uncomfortable.

The location is fantastic—conveniently close to the motorway yet surprisingly peaceful, making it an excellent base for exploring the area or just relaxing after a long drive. It's one of the few places we’ve stayed where a family with small children can comfortably spread out and enjoy a relaxing stay. The beds were incredibly comfortable, and the room was well-stocked with plenty of towels and bed linen, which made everything so convenient. What stood out most was how thoughtfully the room was set up for families. There was enough space for our kids to play without feeling cramped, and the overall cleanliness and attention to detail left us truly impressed. We also appreciated how close the hotel is to local attractions and amenities. Being near the motorway was a huge plus, as it allowed us to get where we needed to go quickly while still enjoying the quiet retreat the hotel offered. Overall, this hotel is great for families looking for comfort, convenience, and a warm, welcoming atmosphere. Stayed here for a couple of days with my 3 children (5 and 1 year old twins) and they make a great effort with children and are child friendly. They have a children’s breakfast table laid out in the morning which my 5 year old loved, a communal play room and they get given an activity box on arrival as well they a little ticket to hand in at the bar for a treat. I also went down to the bar in the evenings for ask for milk for my 1 year old’s and they provided this free of charge. We booked two hotel rooms and the lady on reception made sure we were next door to each other. The rooms were clean and comfortable. They happily provided two travel cots for the twins. Cannot praise the staff enough including the housekeepers who were all welcoming, warm and friendly. A pleasant stay and wouldn’t hesitate to book here again.

The only thing missing is that there is no fridge in the bedrooms.

This was a perfect family stay, hotel was so geared up towards children! Didn't know but has a small playroom for the kids with so many games TV football table and in main dinner area also a separate smaller children's corner. Free access to pool steam sauna until 8pm on weekends. Vik ( very important kids) goodie bags were given out on check in and token for free sweets/ toy from the bar were Inc too. We had pointed out was daughter birthday and they made a huge fuzz, decorated the table, Inc a birthday card! And balloons. Was those little extra touches which was amazing, not to forget kids eat free!!! So we saved bout £40 on evening meals which also were really yummy from onsite pub. Breakfast was nice everything you could of wanted, kids table with pancakes, waffles, cereal etc and plenty hot fried bits, topping for cereal.. really good spread.. overall great stay, brilliant location we were visiting meadowhall and few other local things.

Nothing negative to say , we enjoyed our room ( best family suite stayed in was huge as big family 2 queen beds and sofa bed!!) pool area is small and kids zone gets busy but that's to be expected but we enjoyed using the facilities and great could sit in hottub which next to toddlers area so could actually relax whilst kids played.

Being disabled it’s often difficult to search for the kind of bathroom we need with a twin room. It shouldn’t be this day and age but it still is. This hotel staff are is welcoming, the car park is vast with the disabled bays near the entrance. The disabled room we stayed in was about 10 yards from reception, but very quiet. The breakfast was more of a banquet. There were the options of a full English including black putting and hash browns which my husband loves. I had the porridge and some fruit then some tiny danishes. There was more than this to choose from you could have filled up and gone the whole day without eating if you’re on a budget. We also had an evening meal there the first evening and we got a dish that came with three little dishes each so we could swap and share. It was really tasty and we enjoyed it a lot. The staff were very good there too. Hard working keeping tables clean and taking dishes away. Checking if we were happy with the meal etc. All in all another lovely stay at this hotel and we will go again next year.

The one disappointing this is I wanted to go for a swim but they didn’t have a walk in staircase just the ladders. I was told this by another guest who had just been swimming so I didn’t bother going in, so I didn’t view this for myself. Such a shame because a disabled hoist or walk in steps don’t take up much room and could solve all the problems of a disabled person who needs some respite from the stop over if the bed wasn’t that comfy or the pillow wasn’t right a little swim can help so much. Thankfully I wasn’t in too much pain after each nights sleep. Nice comfy beds with thick mattress toppers.

Great location, we came up for swimming competition at Ponds Forge, hotel really easy to find from motorway and very simple run in to Ponds Forge. Staff were the friendliest of any hotel we’ve stayed in. Friendly, helpful, kind. Breakfast was fantastic, we got full breakfast but if staying g again might just get co to mental as this covers everything apart from cooked breakfast. Lots of fresh fruit/melon/dried fruit, cheese, meats, breads, pastries etc

New bathroom but otherwise room a tiny bit tired, but beds and pillows really comfortable. Also a bit of road noise in front rooms. If we were to stay again I’d ask for a quieter room

The staff were fabulous, nothing was too much trouble and they were happy to help and give us things to help our stay. Like milk for my daughter at bed time. The food was fantastic, especially as a family with kids eating free. What a help. The swimming pool was great, especially the toddler area where they were safe as it was shallow. My youngest daughter has a progressive mitochondrial disease and I really appreciated the memories and easy fun we had here. Thank you

The extra touches - VIK extra treat for children to choose from the snack area, cookies on reception. Gluten free station and kids station at breakfast. Range and quality of foods at breakfast. Excellent toiletry products in the room - hand lotion, shampoo etc. The welcome from all staff. The Friendliness of individual servers: Clemmie - was wonderful, understanding and knowledgeable. The pool facility being available for family use at all times.

The pool area being restricted to one small lane for families and priority given to lane swimming which meant that during the Easter holidays it became a bit unmanageable when 3+ familes wanted to be in the water at one time. There was rubbish - toothbrushes, glass, plastic food packaging around the outside and in the carpark of the hotel. We did see 2 rats one on the first night and one the following evening in the carpark.
