This hotel is a refurbished house or mansion with exquisite architecture. The hotel has maintained the character of the original house, which is a joy and honor to experience. The room we had was spacious with tall ceilings and a small balcony. It faced the street and was a bit noisy earlier in the evening, but quieted down later. Some rooms face the interior courtyard and would be better options for light sleepers. The courtyard is a fun spot to chill out and enjoy a drink or two from the honesty bar they have. The breakfast was hands down THE best we had on San Miguel. My spouse talked about it for days. All the ingredients were fresh and the dining room was light and airy. But what I think sets this place apart is the staff. Super friendly and supportive. Also, when we arrived we were introduced to the housekeeping staff, which I think is awesome because all too often these people work hard and never get the recognition for their efforts. There's no parking with the hotel, so plan ahead score something on the street or in a nearby garage. Finally, the staff responded promptly to all my questions in the Booking app.

The hotel was super clean, and so beautiful with a lot of love for detail. The breakfast was delicious and every day a little different. And the staff was exceptional. Everyone single one of the team was so lovely and welcoming. For example, we had to leave the hotel for the airport at 5am, and without us asking or expecting it the staff offered us to prepare a to-go breakfast, which was very sweet.

The building is very old and despite being renovated it isn’t very soundproof. For us it wasn’t an issue, but if you’re a light sleeper, you might want to bring earplugs.

Great location near the center of town with a very short walk to restaurants and everything of interest. Wonderfully restored building with original old-style features with a modern decor. Good size room with a very comfortable large (Queen size) bed. Absolutely excellent breakfast buffet with a large selection of items. Very friendly and helpful staff. Very nice common areas with an outside courtyard. Elevator (lift) for getting luggage to the second floor. Our room (No. 1) had a balcony overlooking the courtyard, highly recommended. The room has AC and a TV.

The staff was generally away from the front desk performing other tasks. They were available, and eventually responded if you buzzed them, but I felt uncomfortable bothering them, which I shouldn't have.

An absolutely beautiful hotel in a lovely location. Our room was bright, extremely clean with high ceilings, and had a lovely calm feel. All the staff we interacted with were smiling, friendly and attentive. We stayed for 2 nights whilst exploring Ponta Delgada and surrounding areas, but we could have definitely stayed longer. Thank you so much.

The only downside was the breakfast. The breakfast is made then left out, and nothing was left apart from a few bread rolls by the time we got there at 08:15. So we were unable to have any which was a real shame. It just didn't seem enough food or choice for the number of people staying in the hotel.

The restored historical building is beautifully renovated. It incorporates the historical features with all the modern conveniences. The rooms are large and comfortable. The bathroom was spacious and luxurious and the air conditioning the best we have had on our travels. The hotel even provided dark towels to take to the thermal baths. The staff is wonderful and so accommodating. The included breakfast offers a wide selection of items to choose from.

Everything was great. I would only suggest a latte or capuchino maker in the breakfast room.

We like the location. The hotel is well maintained and very clean. We enjoyed the free Nespresso coffee, water and tea provided in the reception area.

The bathroom is a bit small and hope they would have more hooks to hang towels or clothes. They have a courtyard but they have not made a good use of it and it is not too clean (bird poops). The breakfast is simple and good but hope they would change it up, like don't serve scramble eggs everyday.

Very comfortable and super clean facility and rooms. Rooms quite large. Wonderful buffet style breakfast with plenty of options. Centrally located within very easy walking distance to most of Ponta Delgada sights and restaurants. The staff were very friendly and extremely helpful with any and all questions and requests. During our stay, Maria, Daniel and especially Gabriella were fabulous, and seemingly effortlessly assisted us with private parking arrangements and accommodated our group of six with rooms for two additional nights at short-notice when our flight was cancelled late in the evening. Their thoughtfulness and care greatly reduced the stress caused by our delayed departure.

All six members of our traveling party agreed that everything was perfect during our 6-night stay.

Casa do Pateo is a superb intimate accommodation, more personal than a hotel and more upscale than a bed and breakfast. The property is gorgeous, the breakfast is sumptuous, the rooms are minimally luxurious, if that is not an oxymoron. The staff is extremely attentive and personable. Each room is different, each is tastefully decorated with just the right amenities. There is a frig, great storage, a comfortable bed and a comfortable and perfect bathroom. The windows blocked the outside noise perfectly. The location cannot be beat. We were easily able to find parking on a side street and we were told that in a more crowded season, parking should be accessible, perhaps a bit further away. We would definitely return to Casa do Pateo.

Everything was terrific

Gabriela was extremely welcoming, charming and helpful with any question we had. She gave us the perfect holiday feeling and her positive vibe made our vacation truly complete. Moreover, every person working at the house was warm and friendly. We have been travelling a lot, but this was the first time we experienced such a professional and personal approach. Our very spacious room was a dream, with a beautiful view over town, the most comfortable bed, lovely double shower and bath and good WiFi. Relaxing, quiet, calming and enormously clean and tidy. The house is luxurious and tastefully decorated. Also a great location and super tips for restaurants. We enjoyed the breakfast very much, a large variety to choose from and different delicious treats to discover every morning. What a surprise! Probably also the best bread we have ever tasted and so many local and excellent products. When arriving at home yesterday, we immediately missed the room at the house :-) A superb experience: many many thanks to everyone to make our holiday one to never forget! I would recommend this accommodation to everyone. Do not stay one night, but as many as you can!

Beautiful, historic building centrally located in Ponta Delgada, pretty room, very clean. Paid parking a couple streets over (free overnight.)The staff were lovely and friendly. The breakfast was fantastic - lots of choice, fresh and delicious every day. Served in a lovely, sunny room at tables specially pre-set for your room. Always water, coffee, tea available at reception.

Our one challenge was finding enough shelf space to store our stuff, both bathroom and bedroom. A few more hangers would also be great! For people having really short stays, no problem.
