Loved the position. The dining would have been great except my main meal was disappointing (spoilt my birthday). Staff were friendly. Easy walk to New Farm shopping precinct or to Howard Smith Wharves dining precinct and ferry terminal. The outdoor area was pretty at night, but it was too cold to sit out unfortunately. Love that they supply leaf tea and a teapot. Organic bin to dispose of said tealeaves. Hubby enjoyed the Nespresso style pod machine.
Our room was adjacent to the fire door, could hear other guests coming and going. The ventilation in shower turns off with kitchen, as early to bed - it meant we couldn't sleep until they closed down the kitchen. Our room was basically a motel room, I would only stay again if they had a better deal on. Didn't think it was value for $$$ paid. The rain shower. Literally like trying to shower in the rain, I am glad I didn't need to wash my hair, hate to think how long it would take to wash the shampoo and conditioner out. NOPE not a fan.

Everything, Its not our first time at the Balfour, and we will be back. The rooms are wonderful, as is the restaurant. The proximity to the city and other great precincts makes it even better. After a big lunch at HSW, the Valley, or James St its a luxury to be able to come back to the room and chill.
My only negative was the pillows. I prefer a flat pillow, but I accept you can't cater for everyone, and it certainly didn't detract from our stay at all. Oh, almost forgot, some bigger cups for the morning cuppa would be the cherry on the cake.

The location and dining areas were exceptional and has a very tropical feel. The breakfast was full of choice and well prepared. Staff are very good and have a ‘nothing is an issue’ approach. Only a short walk to James street and the ferry.
The restaurant was good, maybe not as good as I remember; and the car parking can be tight, depending on how people park their cars. Both though are still quite good.

When booking, I asked for the quietest darkest room. This was perfect. The staff seemed calm, friendly and happy in their job, suggesting to me that their manager is doing an excellent job. This is my new favourite place to stay.
My room code wouldn’t open the front door when I came back at 11pm from a show. The after hours/on call person remedied this, but it did cause a little stress for a moment.

the heated towel rails were a great bonus!! lovely for a winters night to be warm straight after a shower!
since covid the pricing for overnight stays has become so high priced - it makes it really difficult to try to be safe and responsible when going out - we live out of the Brisbane area so driving home is not always an option and, if we are going to have a drink, we would rather not drive home.

The location of the hotel was perfect and it was in a quiet neighborhood which was great. The suite was beautiful, plenty of space and the bathroom was gorgeous and the bed perhaps one of the most comfortable that I have ever slept in.
Just prior to arriving we were informed that both the restaurant and the roof top bar were both closed for refurbishment. When we booked the property we appreciated that it was small but that having a roof top bar would be great and the restaurant would provide a lovely option for dinner. We had invited friends who were staying at the hotel with us. Unfortunately, Spicer's did not provide enough notice to us to allow us to rebook in Brisbane. We had already started our holiday as well, this was really disappointing. We would likely have rebooked elsewhere had we been provided with more notice.

Breakfast was great, very good coffee, lovely location out on the verandah on a wet day. Upstairs bar at night was also very good although the weather was rainy so we were the only people up there. Great margaritas. Close to city and Fortitude Valley, which I walked to.
The windows in our room were pretty dirty.

Ease of check in and check out was amazing. Dinner and drinks on the roof top was lovely. Friendly staff and very accommodating. The lady at the bar made the best drinks and we had a lovely visit from the bar possum!
Not enough space for suitcases. I arrived with three suitcases and two carry-ons it was a tight fit. Sink was blocked but my partner is a plumber so he unclogged the sink lol.

The bedrooms were spacious and well decorated. We liked the automatic door opening when leaving and the code for our room instead of a key.
The pillows were too soft for us. Dinner was very good, but the wait staff were very junior and seem new to the job. Breakfast was excellent and worth eating there.

Breakfast was great! The Eggs Benny was one of the best I've had! Great service. The location of the hotel was perfect! 2 minute walk to the venue we were attending that evening! Staff were amazing! Very friendly and helpful. Our room was very clean and bed was comfy.
