The room was very comfortable and warm and the location was excellent for us as we were visiting our daughter who is at university in Newcastle and lives in Jesmond. Jesmond is also full of nice places to eat and great coffee places and nice individual shops. Also, very close to the centre of Newcastle - easy Metro ride and not too far to walk (about 30 mins). It was excellent value for money. Staff very friendly. Free car park. There was also an Indian restaurant there which looked fantastic - we didn't eat there but will next time! We will be back!
The room was a little dated.

During my recent stay at the Best Western New Kent Hotel in Newcastle, I was thoroughly impressed by the level of service provided by the staff. Upon my late-night arrival, I was greeted by Melvin, who displayed an exceptionally courteous attitude. He went out of his way to assist me with the parking, ensuring that I had a hassle-free experience. His professionalism and friendly demeanor made the late check-in process smooth and welcoming. Additionally, my interactions with Suzan at the reception desk were exemplary. Her attentiveness and care were evident as she efficiently handled all my queries. On a particularly rainy day, Suzan kindly provided me with an umbrella, a gesture that proved to be incredibly useful. This thoughtful act allowed me to enjoy a pleasant walk in the charming Jesmond area without being deterred by the weather. The hotel room itself was immaculate, with a clean and airy ambiance that immediately put me at ease. The fresh atmosphere was complemented by a well-maintained bathroom, which was stocked with soft, high-quality towels, enhancing the overall comfort of my stay. Overall, the hospitality exhibited by Melvin and Suzan significantly enhanced my experience at the Best Western New Kent Hotel. Their dedication to excellent service is truly commendable, and I look forward to staying at this hotel again in the future.

Other than pricier boutique hotel closest hotel to Freeman Hospital (just over 20 min pleasant walk). Majority of staff very pleasant and helpful. Clean and comfortable with nicely refurbished bathroom. Good to have power sockets with USB on bed console. Lovely food in adjacent restaurant with nice staff, comfortable to eat alone.
Early riser for work so conscious of squeaky flooring. In room folder needs updated as breakfast listed as from 0630 when it’s 0700.

Property a bit tired, but clean. Staff helpful and friendly. Location a fair bit out of the city centre, but we didn't mind as we know the area well and were happy with the walk back afterwards. (You are looking at a good 35 min walk, though, or a 5 min uber). The Jesmond area is clean and safe with plenty of cafés, bars and eateries around. For the less than half price that we would have paid for a city centre property we were happy with the location and condition of the hotel. We chose not to have the hotel breakfast as there are many cafés nearby. I have stayed in 2 other hotels on Osborne Road before and thought it compared favourably, albeit the New Kent is the furthest out of them all. I would stay here again.
Parking spots are restricted so try and get there early. Room swipe key failed (despite us being meticulous about keeping away from phones etc). Staff said it happened quite a bit, but staff through out were excellent, friendly & helpful.

Friendly female receptionist who welcomed us. The room, although small, was clean and kitted out well.
The heating - I enquired with reception when the heating was going to come on as the room was very cool when we went in at 4pm. The heating did come on but then went off again so during the night it was cold again. The bed was a very small double - it was okay for us for one night. The night time receptionist/porter was sarcastic on our return after midnight. I was desperate for the use of the toilet after walking from the centre. He told us we could not use the downstairs toilet as it was just mopped and then said, “Do you not have a toilet in your room!”. I felt it was a bit rude.

The location was excellent for me since I was visiting friends in Jesmond. The hotel was what I expected, simple but clean. It's an old building so labyrinthine, and I first got an oddly-shaped room with almost no space for suitcase but there was another one available and I was changed immediately. Bed was comfortable and closet space good. Bathroom was immaculate. The hotel breakfast was surprisingly good, and included a la carte items (I had great Eggs Benedict). Desk staff was very attentive and pleasant , although there seemed to be only one employee at any given time. The cleaning lady found something I'd left behind and ran to find me before I departed, very kind. Bonus: The Indian restaurant on the hotel premises is EXCELLENT.
No elevator, 3 stories. The stairs are narrow and carpeted so hard to roll luggage. I actually pulled a muscle very badly bringing my suitcase back down. Wasn't offered help although it's true I didn't think to ask (only one desk employee). It's a budget hotel but could benefit from expanding personnel.

A supreme location in Jesmond. Not only interesting in itself, but ten minutes from the City Centre via the two close by Metro Stations. Staff are all great and friendly and full of local knowledge. They go above and beyond. All the staff are great, but I wish to give a big shout out to Melvin and Timmi! Fantastic breakfast options. And the adjoining restaurant- Chakh Dhoom - serves the best Indian food I have ever had… bar none. If you’re staying in Newcastle, long term or short term, I really can’t recommend this hotel highly enough.

The hotel is in an excellent location, there are local shops, restaurants and bars. It is a thirty minute brisk walk into the city . Breakfast was excellent, great variety and freshly cooked. Lovely friendly staff, nothing was too much trouble.
The room had everything we needed but the decor was bland and needed a bit of a refresh.

Location not bad - a little further out than expected but would use this hotel again. Breakfast full English was lovely - didn't realise on first day I had to ask for toast but that was my mistake lol - did ask on second day. Staff more than helpful all the way through my stay and all deserve praise - could not fault them bending over backwards to help. Indian restaurant attached to hotel was the best curry I've tasted in a long time - it was packed on Saturday so make sure you pre book. Reception advised to ask in the Indian if they could serve in hotel bar/breakfast area as I hadn't prebooked - this they did with no hesitation. The restaurant manager personally checking on how my food was. Prices are what you'd expect in a Newcastle hotel for drink. Curry prices very reasonable for a great tasting meal.
Room was small but this was described on website. Queen bed comfort was ok. Lighting could have been a little better. But for what I wanted - a bed for a couple of nights it was good enough for the price. These are minimal points as overall I would stay here again as the staff make you more than welcome. As mentioned above it's a little further away from Town centre - cost about £8 - £10 in a taxi each way depending on time and day of travel. Believe their is a metro station a couple of blocks away and hotel is on a bus route.
