The room was very comfortable a good bed. Enjoyed the full English breakfast. Staff very friendly and helpful . It’s on the sea front. A short walk to the town.

The hotel is of an older period but I was pleasantly surprised to have a well modernised and freshly decorated room, single, overlooking sea. Clean and comfortable, both bedroom and bathroom. (Wonderful to have a single room with an ocean view!) Buffet breakfast - excellent, in an again modernised and airy dining room. No lunch or evening dining facility but bar food served throughout day which could be eaten in the lounge area or in the sun lounge overlooking the promenade. The staff were lovely. Warm and helpful. I have stayed in Eastbourne many times. This was the first time at the Cumberland. I consider it something of a 'find' and I will certainly look forward to going back there in the future.

The staff were excellent, very polite and helpful at all times. The room itself was really good, with a fantastic sea view, we even had a free show on the Saturday night with a Take That tribute band playing in the bandstand across the road (they werent too bad!). The room had recently been renovated and was very nice, the bed was very comfy also.

THE FOLLOWING POINTS DID NOT SPOIL OUR STAY - The bathroom needed a bit of TLC - there was a cracked toilet and the shower needed to be held in place or removed from the housing to be used - however, it did not spoil our stay, it was just one of those things. The hotel is quite old and obviously in need of a little TLC - but we prefer character over some sterile modern place with no soul.

I noticed the comfortable ambiance as soon as I entered the foyer and the welcome I got from Alicia was warm. She first let me unpack my car then sorted out the parking. Once parked she sorted my room key etc. I felt at home. Throughout my stay she and the other staff were friendly and helpful. When I needed an early start and would miss breakfast Alicia arranged a packed lunch instead. The night porter had it ready as I left and when I returned Alicia checked I had received it. Special mention to the restaurant staff who went out of their way to be helpful as well. Oh yes, I had my dog with me and she was fussed and made welcome too We walked the Seven Sisters together.

Being located across from the bandstand on the esplanade meant the sounds of the performances reached my room. But this actually enhanced the seaside experience

The hotel is right by the seaside, you can hear the waves at night, which is wonderful and relaxing. Unfortunately, the downside is that it’s also close to a busy road, so you can hear traffic as well. The location is excellent, with plenty of restaurants and shops nearby. The staff were very helpful and welcoming, and our dogs enjoyed their stay too! 😊

Most things are very positive. Perhaps is just the insulation of the rooms. You can hear people outside of our door like they're in our room.

Wonderful staff, couldn't ask for more helpful,cheerful service. Excellent location with view of the bandstand, the pier & the wish tower. For some maybe a bit old fashioned,but homely & comfortable. & clean The food was plain but fresh & nicely presented.

Clearer notices about where the entrance was even the taxi driver had problems finding it.. Somewhere under cover to wait for a taxi for people with mobility problems. The room was OK but it was difficult to access the shower. The layout of the bathroom needed a bit more thought.

Wonderful little room that was perfect for my 4-night stay. Stunning views, excellent location, fast wi-fi, quiet at night, and all at a very affordable price! The balcony is shared, as clearly stated in the description, but it was still lovely to have one right on the sea!

The bed could use an upgrade - it was soft, and I could feel the springs. The lighting was very dim, with the vanity light in the bathroom broken for the duration of my stay. I would definitely stay here again, regardless.

Perfect location. I loved the 1930s Art Deco features of the interior. Staff were extremely pleasant, efficient and helpful. The public areas were spacious, relaxed and comfortable, enhanced by sea views. Breakfasts very satisfactory. Good bar, always open when we wanted it. Good value. Parking readily available directly outside and inexpensive. A very well run hotel, a pleasure to stay here.

A minor reservation: my bedroom was rather hot the first night, but better thereafter.

Very spacious single room with separate shower/bath, TV, telephone and facilities to make hot drinks. Great amount of storage and hairdryer provided. The reception staff were very welcoming and the £2.20 parking voucher extremely useful. I paid for a very reasonably priced breakfast for both mornings which was well cooked and well presented. Needless to say I didn't need lunch on either day.

The shower was mounted on the side wall of the bath with a metal frame (possible radiator) above the taps where youd expect the shower head to be which meant negotiating how to stand awkward. The head was fixed on the wall below head height. Fine for me as I wasn't wanting to wash my hair but if I had, that would have been a challenge.

The room the was clean and tidy with a good view of the seafront. Bathroom although, small was clean and functional. The staff were very friendly, courteous and very helpful. The breakfast was of a 'buffet' style which catered for all needs and the quality of the breakfast along with the lunches we had were all very good and fairly priced. Location of the hotel is fantastic, right on the seafront and only a 10/15 minute walk away from the town centre.
