The location was fantastic. Easy access to trains. Music in the street below. The opera house and Royal palace within a minute. Lots of shops and I personally enjoy listening to the people walking below at night time. Good shower pressure and even though the shower is small it was still okay for me. If you are a taller larger person it might be a little tricky. The staff were lovely and in reception 24/7. Just off Plaza de Sol, the main shopping district. I also had a mini fridge & took my own kettle.
No air conditioning, but with the doors open at night the breeze is fine.

We were a close walk to both the Sol and Opera metro stations, as well as walking distance to most places we wanted to go. The area contains tons of shopping and great food. There is 24hr reception to let you in to the building. The air conditioning worked great, room had plenty of space, and the staff was very helpful and friendly, despite a slight language barrier. Absolutely great for the price.
They did not make it to our room every day to make beds/replace towels. We usually left for only an hour or two in the late morning so this could be our fault, but it didn’t matter to us as we were able to ask for whatever we needed at reception.

I loved my stay at the Hostal Ivor! The staff were so helpful and friendly and the location was perfect for walking and discovering the beautiful city of Madrid. The bed was great, comfy. The pillows were nice, not too hard, and not too soft. The blankets were layered, so you had what you needed if you were too warm or chilly. There was good lighting as well and room darkening curtains for sleeping in :). The little balcony was a bonus! I had to take a point off my review because of the shower in the room. It is so small :( Having a shower after a long day of walking is something to look forward to, but in this case, it wasn't. Yes, it was adequate, and it got the job done. The water pressure was good, and the water got hot enough, but overall, it could be so much better. All that being said, as a solo traveler, this room definitely suited my needs. It probably wouldn't be as comfortable with 2 people in the room however, at least not for the 4 nights stay that I was there.

I really enjoyed my stay at this place. The location is excellent — you can see the Opera House right from the balcony. The bed was very comfortable, and the room was cleaned every day. I felt a bit cold, so I asked for a kettle, and I received both a kettle and some tea, which was very thoughtful. The building has an elevator, and the room includes a mini fridge, towels, and basic hygiene items like soap and shampoo. For this price, I believe it's the best place I could have found — I feel lucky to have stayed in the Hostal Ivor.
The room and bed were smaller than in the photos, but it didn’t bother me.

You could not get a better location for sightseeing. Step straight out of the door and you are in the pedestrianised centre, with fast food, bars and shops. Just a minutes walk to 2 metro stations, and beautiful plazas with traditional restaurants and tapas bars just a few minutes walk away. We felt very safe and the streets were busy with people all the time of our stay in early April. Staff were so kind and helpful. We asked for extra blankets and a kettle on the first day, as the room was very bare. When we came back they had also put a mini fridge, mug and spoon in the room. Although the room was basic, it was spotlessly clean, and there was plenty of hot water for the bath and shower. Weather was perfect in the mid 20s, so we didn't have to use heating or air con, so can't report on that. Room was cleaned and beds made every day. Ideal as a base, if you are out exploring all day. Staff could not have been more helpful and friendly. They prebooked a taxi transfer on our last day, for a 3.00am getaway and it arrived dead on time. €33 to the airport.
Some have said it's hard to find, so bring up Google maps. It's directly opposite KFC. Then look up, there's a huge Hostal Ivor sign. But the buzzer to get in is marked with a small sign in the doorway below as it seems to be a shared entrance. It would be nice to have a key to get in, but usually the desk staff opened the door immediately, except when called away on one occasion. The buildings echo quite a bit and doors could slam if not closed gently, so if you had noisy or unthoughtful neighbours I can imagine that the sound could be annoying, but all the other guests were considerate during our stay, so we slept well. Overall we had a great break in a lovely location, with all the major sights in walking distance for 2 fittish 63 year olds.

Excellent location for seeing the sites. Most places were within walking distance, shops, cafes, bars and restaurants were in abundance. Staff were friendly and always on hand Highly recommended baring in mind the hotel rating
A kettle in the room would have been useful, we purchased one from a local stall. Some of the information about the room said it had a mini bar but their wasn't one in our room. It wasn't a major problem but it would have been useful. Apart from that everything was great.

The location can't be better than this where is right next to Opera Metro station, Teatro Real Opera theatre, Royal Palace......, lots of cafes, restaurants. If I come back Madrid I will be stay here again. Plus nice staffs. I have stayed 7 nights here. There is no kitchen and kettle but still good value of money. Highly recommended!

Excellent location - main galleries and museums within walking distance if you like to walk around Madrid, as we do, but if not then Opera and Sol metros are very close. Room was clean and the shower facilities good. We would stay there again.
All good! Some people might not like the street noise but the shutters can be closed and block out most of the external noise. We were there in early March so can't testify to how the room might be heated in winter or kept cool in summer.

Great location, very clean. There wasn’t a hairdryer in the room but I asked for one at the reception and they gave me. Friendly staff.
Online communication js not very good. I left a message and an email, they didn’t answer at all. A bit noisy but expected considering the location.

It was an amazing stay for me and my friend. The staff were very well mannered and helpful. Even going beyond to help us with cleaning and navigation. You can ask for a water heater and hair blow dry at the counter.
