Right from check in to check out, the staff were exceptionally incredible. Special mention about Eric and Jannie, they were always very courteous and helpful and always asked us our plans for the day and they would accordingly give their suggestions. The dorm style rooms had six beds and the rooms were very clean and the bathrooms too. The whole facility was so good and the kitchen area was huge with multiple cooking stations. In the evening it was a pleasure to watch people from different parts of the world cooking their style of food. The only let down was the breakfast which did not have any cheese, cold cuts, croissants or pain au chocolates or any fruits. They only had bread with different spreads, muesli and yoghurt which was a total let down. Being Easter weekend they had some colourful boiled Easter eggs. But the location of the hostel was too good, it was equidistant from Interlaken Ost and West stations. Many buses stopped right in front of the hostel and going around Interlaken with their Guest card was so helpful. My husband was so happy with the stay that he said that we have to go again to Backpackers Villa in the future, though it was our 5th visit to Interlaken.Going to Iseltwald, Brienz, Thun, Lauterbrunnen, Wengen and neighbouring towns were so convenient. Thanks to the entire team of Backpackers Villa Sonnenhof for making our stay so comfortable.

If i could rate more than 10, I would! Perfect location in the middle of Interlaken Ost and Interlaken West stations. The place is beautiful, lovely views all around. Big enough to have space for yourself even if staying in a hostel. They have a lounge area, 3 dining areas, a mess hall, big kitchen to cook meals (they provide supplies, spices and condiments, mind you!), a garden, a laundry room (10 chf only), and a playroom. Everything in this hostel was well thought of. Rooms are cozy even if sharing with others. The staff are the most lovely and accomodating people I have ever met. They also have amenities that goes way well above and beyond and very much appreciated - free breakfast, you can borrow snow shoes, day lockers for use before check in and after check out time, free transport card around Interlaken, and free postcards that you can mail to your loved ones for a minimal fee! This place is the best place to stay in Interlaken, I didn't want to leave. Definitely coming back.

Heaps of bathrooms/toilets, and monitored and cleaned very frequently. I’ve never experienced a hostel with such clean facilities before!! Having access to free breakfast was also appreciated. It’s a basic selection - lots of bread, jams, yoghurt and cereal. But unlimited fancy machine coffee!! Guests were all very respectful of noise levels and lights in the dorms. People took quiet hours very seriously. I actually slept so well.

Has a bit of an industrial feel to it, which was alright because I was just using it as a base. But if you’re a solo traveller looking to make friends you won’t get that here. Everyone keeps to themselves or doesn’t converse with anyone outside their own group. It’s like a hotel on a budget but with dorms.

The place is only 2 bus stops away from Interlaken OST station. However, we walked to the hostel the first day because it was Sunday and not many buses in service. Walking was easy - smooth path - and took 15 minutes (1 km.). I liked everything there from the kitchen, laundry area, toy room, garden, to the room. The staff were helpful. The last day after check out, we had already gone to the train station only to find out that my husband forgot his camera backpack at the hostel. I called and the staff looked for and kept it for him. If I go to Interlaken again, will stay here for sure Highly reccommend.

I think the floor in the room was not clean. Stepped on a lot of small pieces. The breakfast was not of much variety. However, you can always cook for yourself. That's what I did on the 2nd and 3rd mornings.

The staff is absolutely lovely. Location is easy, public transport nearby. Recreational area with fussball table and pingpong table was a nice touch. Free lockers to use when checking in early or late are fabulous. We didn’t use the kitchen and laundry area but both looked clean and easy to use. Free coffee in the morning and basic breakfast included. Coffee from the machine available for only chf2 in the afternoon and evening. Stamps for postcards available at reception.

We’d have liked a bit more (stronger) lighting and we did find some hair on the bathroom floor that was definitely not ours. But, no biggie. You get what you pay for.

I loved how equipped this hostel is with everything you may need - kitchen, laundry especially. I stayed in a single room and it was simple, but sufficient. You get a free transport pass for the duration of your stay, which is handy! Staff is friendly and they accommodated me when I requested a room swap. The place is well maintained and the location is great.

The only thing that really bothered me was the shower - it was small and closes with the curtain. It felt uncomfortable and claustrophobic. I also wish people socialised more in there (or maybe I was just unlucky); this would make the place a lot more lively and attractive.

It was an amazing modern hostel. It was very spacious and had several common areas/lounges including a terrace with a garden. The tea is complimentary and there is a coffee machine to pay for. You got your own locker to unlock with the key card. The people staying in my dorm were the friendliest! The bathroom was in the dorm room which was very convenient. The hostel is next to a big park with a beautiful view of the mountains.

The location wasn't the greatest as it was at least 2 bus stops away from a train station and the groceries shops were also further away. I would also appreciate some more sockets in the lounge area. The beds felt quite shaky with every movement.

Backpackers Villa Sonnenhof was a fantastic place to stay. The hostel is clean, cozy, and fully equipped with everything you might need. The staff is super friendly and helpful. They give you a Guest Card that makes it easy to explore Interlaken and the surrounding areas. The location is great, just a short walk to the train station and close to shops, restaurants, and an stunning river. One thing I really appreciated is that even after check-out, you're still allowed to use the facilities, including the common areas, kitchen, showers, and Wi-Fi. You can also store your luggage in a free private locker if you're leaving later in the day. That made a huge difference for me. The views from the hostel are beautiful, and I would definitely stay here again!

Private room was decently sized, can open 2 large luggages. Located right in front of the bus stop which is very convenient when arriving with the luggages. Liked that the shower and toilet is separate. Breakfast was included but limited, could do with some fruits or protein such as hard boil eggs. Great coffee at breakfast.

Would be nice to have a fresh change of towels daily, on request without charge. It is weird to have to pick up towels at check in reception especially when we already have to carry so many stuffs. Same for check out, we have to bring the used towels back to the reception. A little overpriced, even for Swiss standard.
