I loved my room, even though I’m not a big fan of dorms. The hostel offered plenty of events every day - from BBQs to games and night club. They have a spacious, well-equipped kitchen, and many rooms with TVs, a guitar, piano, games, even a cigarette vending machine, HAMMOCK ROOM, and a bar. It honestly felt like whatever you might need, they already had it 😁🤌🏻 It’s a great place to meet new people, but if you'd rather have quiet time, there’s plenty of space to relax. Some people say it's a bit far from the station, but I absolutely enjoyed the location. I also know they organize free hikes, so if you're worrying about going alone, their team will definitely have something for you. Staff is great, friendly, always opened to small talks and any recommendations) Staying there was my absolutely spontaneous decision, and I definitely want to come back one day 💙 Your team do a great job!!

I can’t say this was something I didn’t like, since I knew about it in advance, but I do think it would make Balmers even better! I’d prefer beds with curtains to avoid disturbing others with light and to have a bit more privacy. Also, it wasn’t an issue for me, but you should know - you’ll need to bring your own towel or pay for one

Fantastic facilities kept very clean by staff, good system, all the amenities you need. Ample bathrooms and lots of different rooms for relaxation, eating, refillable water stations. It also just has great charm and an interesting history. I usually would avoid a hostel if I could but this was such a different and great experience as someone older who is not travelling and just wanted an affordable and pleasant stay (I stayed in a private room with a friend) and a way to save money on eating out. It’s very cosy and has a lovely rustic feel. Also has excellent recommendations and good at connecting you to advice and other guests.

Nothing!

By far the most well facilitated hostel We've ever stayed, I'm not new to hostels but this is my first time for my partner and he loved it. The kitchen is by far the highlight of the hostel, it's very well equipped, had a good chat with fellow travellers as well.

It's a shame that we travelled when the weather was scorching hot, as the hostel only had one big fan on the floor, the room was very hot. So if you're planning to visit, do it not during summer. The price is also quiet expensive for a hostel, but it's switzerland you know, breathing also cost money.

If you’re traveling solo and looking for a spontaneous adventure in Interlaken, this is a great spot. The staff are friendly, you get a free bus pass to get around the village, there are plenty of fun activities to join, the facilities are clean, and it’s conveniently close to the city center. I’d definitely choose to stay here again.

Everything was wonderful, but the room can get quite warm in the summer. They do provide a fan, though it’s a bit noisy having a quieter one would make it even better.

Amazing staff and friendly environment! Very cool common areas, a club, hammock room, music room with piano and guitars. Many activities to help people bond. Great luggage storage room.

Showers could use some improvement. Little air circulation so it gets hot fast. Drains are often clogged so you stand in a puddle of water. Staff is unavailable during the day because they do guided events. We forgot our key in the room and were locked outside for an hour unable to do anything. The “help” button they advertised does nothing.

I stayed here in 1986 when I was back packing as a 20 year old. I wanted to relive a memory ..and Balmers didn’t disappoint! Its much larger now of course but still has the warm welcoming feeling I remembered. I stayed in a 6 dorm..I probably should have stayed in a single room..I’m a little noisy as the rooms are air tight 😮‍💨The showers and toilets are nice and clean. The security cages under your bed are fantastic ..bring a lock if you want security The new kitchen will be welcomed by many. It’s a great location as it’s between Ost & West stations and a short stroll or free public bus (compliments with your stay) ride to the center. Cool vending machines. Lots of living spaces to chill out. Johanna at reception is a super star and will help you with anything!

maybe some little signs for the toilet/shower doors ..it’s a bit of a guessing game 😂🚽🧼although it’s a bit fun like a Harry Potter world

Location was great, good bus services to Interlaken Ost. The kitchen was spacious and was clean, with enough pots, pans and cutlery to go around. The common spaces were inviting and vibrant.

The bathrooms were tiny. I had to be careful not to hit my head against the sloping ceiling in the private rooms. ( got bumped a few times). No scissor in the kitchen. Some guests were eating out of the cooking pots , and no one to advise them. Out of the four standing stoves, two of them extremely slow to heat up. Enormous Waste of time if only those were open. The fridges were leaking water and not enough for when the hostels are at full capacity.

The hostel with their bright decor definitely stood out from the streets. We are also lucky to have been able to stay in a room with a mini balcony that looks out to it. Just next door to the hostel was an excellent halal pizzaria that welcomes supper goer. The staffs are understanding and accommodating, helping me with safekeeping my luggage that was delivered from airport due to delayed flights. We had a good match of Foosball with the friendly staff over there! Of course, it was after their working shift! :P Great vibes all around~

The Balmer wrist band issued is not easily adjustable, rendering it difficult to remove at times. As the season is reaching chilling temperature, the room heater is unable to cope with keeping the room warm, but we felt fuzzy though :)

Well equipped hostel in a great location. Facilities were clean and plenty of them to go around. We stayed in a private room, which was tiny but the beds were comfortable.

No AC in a loft room in summer, made it difficult to sleep. You have one window for airflow and it lets the rain in. It was a great hostel but wayyyyy overpriced for what you get.

You can see why it has been rated best hostel. Large property which is confusing initially and can feel crowded but ample common areas, ample bathrooms/showers, large kitchen and extremely clean facilities especially the kitchen! Thoroughly enjoyed my stay here and would certainly come back again. Location about 15minutes walk into centre of town and main train stations. No on site parking - public paid parking about 5 minutes walk.

Minor queueing at check in as reception is closed until 4pm.
