Friendliness and helpful cleaning staff. The decor in the is very good. But the bones of the building need updating IE windows, exterior decor.

1 draw back was we found a pair of we assume dirty socks below the bed..... Gave the wife the ick..... Breakfast bread needs to be fresher i.e muffins pan au chocolate. A pancake maker is a great option and would be a great addition. Ordered a club sandwich. And received a Very sub power effort. I was very close to having the chicken sent for testing as it was absa-blooming-loutely disgusting...... Both side of the beds should have charge point i.e type c, usb fast charging. Bathroom door was to close to toilet. I'd suggest an easy remedy. Either sliding door or open the door into the room....

The location and value for money

Getting a parking ticket despite filling in my car details at reception.

We had a standard king room with a large walk-in shower. The room was just big enough for our large suitcases. The aircon was welcome in hot weather. There was a desk with chair and armchair in the room. We were able to park in the grounds. We had a good dinner at the hotel and breakfasts were plentiful with a good variety of quality hot and cold food at the buffet. It was close to a park and ride into York old town.

The bathroom was snug and getting in and shutting the door was a squeeze. The shower size was good just lacking in floor space. We were there 3 nights and our room wasn't serviced the first day. That wasn't the end of the world, but we would have liked fresh towels as with most accommodation there is little hanging space for towels. We called reception and the manager on duty was very apologetic and came up with towels straight away. He also offered to get the staff to come and clean.

Good location, plenty of parking, staff friendly and welcoming and the room was large with an enormous bed. The bed was very comfortable and we had a great night's sleep. The hotel is also pet friendly. Housekeeping provided fresh towels and made the beds each day. We would definitely stay again. You always know exactly what to expect from a Holiday Inn.

There was an overbath shower and the bath was very small which caused my partner to lose his balance getting in. The shower controls also needed fixed as the shower wouldn't turn off properly. It didn't effect the quality or flow of the shower.

Room were as you would expect, bed comfortable, advertised a walk in shower and there was, however bathroom was on the small side, milk and coffee soon ran out but reception soon topped us back up. Breakfast was really good, loads of choice no matter what your tadte, ran out of fried eggs on first day but there was loads more choice. The location is a good way outside York city but buses pass regularly just outside the hotel or it was a 5 minute car ride in. There was a fresh smell of paint in the corridors which was a pleasing, thing, as iy shows they were not just redting on tbeir laurels with the upkeep of the place. Ideally situated if your going to York races.

Good location right by the racecourse and you can walk into the city or get a short bus ride. Nice clean and efficient rooms. Nice restaurant downstairs. Check in staff were helpful.

We had to wait over an hour for some chicken nuggets & chips and chicken snitzel and chips , despite asking 3 times where our food was it still didn’t come. When I asked one waiter he said the chef was busy doing the buffet for the bus loads of Chinese tourists that had turned up , at this point we’d already waited 30 mins. And he wouldn’t ask the chef like I asked him to. Another kids waiter gave us a couple of vouchers to make up for us waiting so long which was really nice of him. Apart from this, the hotel was great.

Quiet location, comfortable bed, good ventilation. So we slept like logs. Breakfast excellent, especially the host from Nepal, for whom our welfare was his watchword. He and the manager from South Africa could not have done more to make sure we were welcome, well fed, and happy. The location meant that we could easily go into the city by public bus but visit relatives by car, which was easy to arrive by, due to the hotel being on our home side of the city, and having a large accessible car park. A decent area with lovely church nearby to have coffee. New bathroom was lovely, clean and well thought out. The curtains were really decent full length and blackout. A big plus. Plenty of good lams and a decent tv and wifi service.

We tried dinner one night and felt it was of low quality, poor quantity and laisse fair service. What a contrast to breakfast. A real shame because the dining toom was enormous and there was a large audience wishing to eat in their own hotel, had the offering been better. The general decor in the room was dated and dull, with painting of walls clearly done by someone with inadequate training. Not enough storage or surfaces with which to keep our belongings, which were not vast in quantity. (ie. tiny rectangle of surface by the bed, one low cupboard and wardrobe, No hanging hooks anywhere, and only 6 hangers in the wardrobe).

Staff amazing from start to finish went out of their way a gentleman checked us in didn't get his name he could see mum was struggling with mobility so asked if we would like a downstairs room then proceeded to ask if walk in shower or bath would be best absolutely couldn't fault him spoke the following morning and evening and asked about our day best customer service ever received in a holiday inn bus stop across rd but buses were often full but it turned out it was also pride weekend taxis via uber were quick and reliable and very good price about same as 2 bus tickets in end so we travelled in and out via user in the end and left car parked up at hotel if able you could walk in to the centre

Great location at the racecourse. Lovely big hotel. Stayed 1 night as a rest stop during our journey from Essex to Scotland. Arrived late and left next morning so didn't use too many facilities but breakfast was good and staff were friendly. Family room in the ground floor was a good size for three.

The family room we had was a little tired looking now and could do with a coat of paint. The shower room is very small for a family room. The mattress on the main bed was very soft and the sofa bed for our 8 year old, which would take 2 kids easily, was very thin but ok for a wee one.

Breakfast was the highlight, as it was previously at holiday inn. Incredibly professional staff, and everything we could wish for to eat.

We had come to York for a funeral and were very tired on both nights. We had hoped for a lie in on our last morning, but were awoken before 8am on a Sunday by the starting up of some sort of vehicle or machinery on the hotel car park near our window. This extremely loud noise lasted several minutes and we could not get back to sleep. Got home exhausted. It would have been better if we had driven home instead of staying the second night, which cost a great deal as it was a Saturday night.
