Like its sister hostel Abigails, Ashfield is a really, really, really good backpackers. Staff here are great. Excellent door security and for a hostel so big, it was super clean. New kitchen facilities.

Rooms are crammed with bunks, as all big city hostels are. But everything else makes up for it. Check in security crosses the line with civil liberties. Maybe chill out with taking photos without asking, you already took a scan of my passport and a copy of my bank card. Pretty sure it’s all in breach of GDPR and possibly illegal. I’ve noted Dublin hostels are full with IPA guests, but if you don’t want IPA people staying, just tell them the truth that you’re a tourist/backpackers hostel for tourists/backpackers/weekenders. Simple.

Firstly, the staff are brilliant, helpful, and friendly. Pillows are a bit too thin, and even when doubled up, they are not thick enough. Showe rooms could be a bit bigger for us, more larger people but shower power and hot water are great and they are clean. wifi can be hit and miss or slow but a lot of people using at the same time can slow it up. Free coffee, tea and hot chocolate all day is a bonus but even some toast would not go amiss in the mornings. Location is great and very central to both Temple Bar, O'Connell and Grafton streets. so much to do and not enough time. 9 days maximum stay is understandable

pillows. no toast in morning but they are very minor issues. The hostel could do with an upgrade as there are many brand new hostels in the area and this is being left behind.

Great location, pretty much everything in the city is within walking distance. Very reasonable price. Everything was clean and they had every amenity I needed. The bed was decently big and very comfy. Check in and checkout was very easy. Staff were ok. One in particular was really nice. Another wasn't exactly "friendly," but he did his job well without complaining. So I guess I can't complain too much. Bathroom was fine. Shower was good, plenty of hot water and good pressure. But there's no shelf to put your shampoo and stuff, mildly annoying. Make sure you bring a bar of soap for the shower. That was the one thing they didn't provide and that I also didn't think to bring. Overall, I'd say this place was "good enough," especially relative to what I paid.

The room was pretty cramped. I was in a room with 4 beds. It was hard to pack/unpack and have enough room for all my stuff. Moving around wasn't always easy, and it got especially difficult if even one of my roommates was in the room as well. The worst part was the air conditioning. We had to sleep with the window open in order for the room to be cool enough to sleep in. It was especially bad the first night (I stayed for 2 nights). I wish they'd given me more than one pillow (couldn't bring my own because it wouldn't fit in my luggage with all my other stuff). I also wish they didn't make me pay for towels. But it was only 1 euro, so it's not like they were bankrupting me.

Staff very helpful and friendly along with the convenient location which is walkable to area attractions, shopping, Terrace Bar area, Dublin Express bus to airport ( 35 minute ride) and local public transportaion to include buses, trams and rail. They are also very dilligent with keeping security tight requiring guests to be buzzed in deterring people who are not guests to come on the premises.

Single bathroom for 6 people to share. If someone is showering and blow drying their hair it can be as long as 20 minutes or more to wait to use the toilet. It would be great if there was another toilet and sink available for use. The sink could even be in the room so someone could brush teeth or wash face or blow dry hair enabling others to use the bathroom with shower.

Cheap as chips. Centrally located - almost all the major tourist attractions are 2 to 15 minutes walk away. Excellent selection of pubs, restaurants and transportation. Easily get to Dublin airport or Belfast or anywhere else. Day trip buses for Giant’s Causeway, Belfast, Dunluce, Dark Hedges and so many other places start literally 5 to 15 minutes walk away from this hostel. Originally booked only 2 nights (Saturday & Sunday) but because the please is so affordable and I wanted to do the Game of Thrones Studio Tour, I extended the stay for another night (Monday). Stayed in the 18 bed mixed dorm - everyone was polite, no noise. The dorm has 3 showers and 2 toilets and 3 sinks with a large mirror. I’d definitely stay here again for a weekend or short visit to anywhere in Ireland, as it’s so easy to make a day trip anywhere in Ireland from here.

Not applicable - can’t find fault for such an incredibly low priced accommodation.

Excellent location, friendly staff

The cleaner was rude AF multiple times came in to the room at very inconvenient times and again barged in to the room on my checkout day at 9am - I was in my room getting changed and note this was 1.5 hours BEFORE checkout time. She didn't knock and then when she came back she mumbled something to me about still being in the room. I told her to her face she was unnecessarily rude. The management needs to consider retraining if you look at other reviews I've just noticed similar complaints. She really let down the hostel as it affected my feeling of security and privacy.

Amazing central location. Lovely staff. Fully equipped shared kitchen facility and dining space. The room was the perfect base for a traveller.

I was slightly confused about how to initially get into the building. I assumed that you had to wait to be let in after pressing the “ bell “ , as there were no signs to say that you needed to push the door yourself after pressing the bell. I also wish that I was informed that my roommate was going to be arriving on her check in date after midnight, as I was in the room on my own when she arrived. As a solo female traveller and being alone in the room at the time she arrived, it can be quite scary when you are awoken after midnight to someone entering your room when you’re not expecting it.

Only a quick stay before a flight but the receptionist was absolutely lovely. I didn’t catch his name but after a long days travels I was completely exhausted and his friendly personality definitely made my day so much better. We chatted about ancestry while he was doing the check in process and afterwards while I was eating in the common area he sat at reception playing guitar. Very great atmosphere and great facilities. Brilliant location. Wish I stayed here the last time I visited Dublin.

The location is very convenient, just a few minutes away from Temple Bar. The downside is that there is going to be noise outside until quite late, but that's the expected trade-off. The beds are extremely comfortable, with surprisingly nice duvets for a warm and pleasant night's sleep. Pillows are kinda bad, but I found that to be the case even for much more expensive accommodations so I wouldn't dock points because of it. Each bed comes with its own convenient overhead shelf / light / power unit, including USB ports. Cleanliness was on point.

The light is on 24:7 in the hallway and a fairly large amount of it gets into the room, which can be annoying when trying to sleep.

We appreciate the security measures, having to ring a bell to enter at all times and have to show you room card to reception each time, although the staff was polite and sharp to remember faces and names and spare you the show-card-check. Yet we wouldn't bother even if we had to show it each time. Hostel was clean, organized with a clean and easy to use kitchen (stove, fridges, microwave - water boiler) with bunch of cutlery and complimentary coffee - tea - hot chocolate. Bedsheets and covers looked and smell clean. Beds and pillows were comfortable, good size of room for 8 and sufficient bathroom. Personal light and charger plugs on each bed Regarding noise, hostel is fairly enforcing some quite hours, yet keep in mind hostel is at center and windows are open at all times for proper ventilation, thus, some earplugs are recommended.

In all honesty there wasn't something we didn't like, yet if we could offer a suggestion since we were in many hostels around, having some additional comfort items such as earplugs, small hand towel, some shower gel, drinkable water would make the stay more pleasant. But that's more of suggestions that anything else
