Location was perfect. Instructions and communication with staff before and while stay was clear, understandable and fully informative. Beds were comfortable. Bathrooms and toilets were clean at all time. (Even late at night, middle of the day, early in the morning) Soap and toilet paper were never missing.

The biggest downside was the size of window. We had room with just one small window so heat was present in our room almost at all time. We had room for 8 people with 80x80 window. Even thought we had a fan. We had to keep doors open at all time. Also the rooms had some stains here and there but nothing that would ruin the experience.

I liked everything. I travel with a wheelchair and the staff was always solicitous to open doors for me. Also, there is a tram stop on the corner and in three stops I was in the City centre. Also, Generator is near the river Liffey and on the other side I had Guinness. Also Generator is located on a spacious "Square" with beautiful greenery, eateries, and an enormous fresh food super store with a wide range of fresh food and vegetables, soft drinks and alcoholic ones, and great bread. I was attending the International Literature Festival of Dublin.

There was nothing I disliked.

I stayed a couple nights in the "Bed in small dorm Ensuite bathroom" and another night in "Bed in mixed dorm". I rarely stay in hostel because I love my sleep but Dublin is pricey. There were 6 beds and a sole private bathroom with shower in the small dorm. Tight space. The room is hot even with the window open. Rooms were decently cleaned. I slept well but I guess it depends who you get in your room. I did check out the men's bathroom on the second floor. They looked cleaned. Avoid the bathrooms in the basement. Those are meant for the party room downstairs. Awesome time! I met some other travelers. There's dj music every night, a bar, food and games. It's a social hostel which aims for the younger crowd so probably not for everyone. It's maybe a 20 minute walk to the center but a train takes you there faster.

Get ready to pay for the extra stuff. I arrived early so you need to pay for luggage storage. Checking out early and you want to leave your luggage, again you gotta pay. This can be anywhere from €4-8. I traveled to 50 countries and I have yet to pay for a towel until now. It was only €4. My travel adapter has worked everywhere but here. It has to be the silm version. They sell it here for €6. And the lockers in your room for storage needs to have the slim long hook. That's another €6 if yours doesn't work. So adding up all the extra, is it still worth it? Yes, I would still stay here but with all the extras, you can probably find another place with everything included for cheaper. I would also suggest for the hostel to put up some curtains on the beds for more privacy.

This hostel obviously caters to a younger crowd, with a bar area and lots of fun activities. I was a bit worried that I would hear the nightime noise, but was pleasantly surprised at how well sound proofed it was. I went to bed early as I was tired from a day of travelling and heard absolutely none of the noise from the bar or lobby area. The area is fine, close to a Dublin Express bus drop off point which was a big plus. I stayed in a female only dorm, and the other people staying were also quiet and respectful of the others in the room. There are a few dining areas right across the way. Staff were friendly and helpful

Like many hostels in Ireland and Europe, the rooms get quite hot and stuffy and night in the summer. They did provide a room fan, which really helped. It isn't quite as central as some of the other locations but just a short 10-15 minute walk into the action.

Room was nice and clean, spacious for the 4 of us and ensuite was good. The bar and restaurant was lovely and had good deals on food and drink. Staff was all friendly and nice. Offered a discount on the parking across the road, good deal of 18 euro for 24 hours.

We checked in online but when we arrived the tablets weren't working for quick online check in, so that led to queues for checking in as everyone arrived around the same time. The room only had 3 seats, not a big issue - but 4 would have been better for our group, I'm sure if we asked thy would've provided one but wasn't that serious.

I really liked that I could check in and get my own keycard at a kiosk at reception, and that I could check out the same way. I found the bed and locker clean and spacious, and the room was a good temperature, etc. I think I would have enjoyed a longer stay, and I may be back in future to explore the facilities and events provided a bit more.

I used the showers in the ensuite, and this was the one thing that left me unhappy. I tried the one in the corner and was unable to get hot water from it. After a minute or so of trying the handle, I figured out that I was also unable to turn the water off. The drain was also blocked, so the floor of the shower was filling up with water and it was about to spill out onto the floor. I managed to turn the shower off by pushing the handle back in, but I really don't know how it was supposed to be operated. I tried the other shower after this and it worked well.

The rooms are clean and the linen is crispy white.

They need to consider allowing guests to choose if they want a room with females only or a unisex room. It's creepy to wake up in a room with unknown men. That can be dangerous if a female traveler is alone in a 4-bed room with 3 male roommates.

No hotel, no hostel, no home can garantee a quiet space - the world goes on around us. Especially in a hostel with an appreciation for individual and group travel. I saw a staff member kindly ask a young couple coming in with a little too much drink on them to sit to the side. I was very impressed the way he handled it respectful to all. This is just one example of the experienced and kindness of staff. Addictionally when i couldnt sleep due to not some snoring but the other lady getting annoyed at her and kept waking her up - instead of getting cross at the one that wasnt happy and unable to ubderstand no-one can help snoring in their sleep - staff gave me another bed available thankfully. Again, ensuring peace between clientale as i didnt want to be trying to handle the situation myself and become upset.

I miss the continental breakfast. However the breakfast from the menu was fab. I will get used to the change in menu as i love the energy and professionalism at The Generator.

Comfortable hostel in a lovely historic area beside the Jameson distillery. I always enjoy staying there.

I am confused about the stated breakfast time. I thought it is until midday, but ended up grabbing some coffee quickly as they were taking away the breakfast much earlier than midday. It would have been disappointing if I had not been able to relax with a coffee after breakfast. It would be useful if the time for everything is made easier to understand. Maybe another breakfast can be ordered until midday or something but how are people supposed to know this?
