The hotel is close to the centre of Chester, situated by the train station. It's easily walkable to the centre, only 5 minutes walk. The room was great for the price, (£80 for one night), there's a huge amount of rooms at this hotel, but it was still fairly quiet. Breakfast was good too, it's buffet style with a lot of choice, both continental options and traditional full English breakfast options too.

The check-in time was a little later that other hotels at 4pm, so if you're looking at checking in any earlier than that, then this hotel isn't for you. There is parking behind the hotel, but it's first come first served, priced at £8 for 24 hours. The car park was full as it seemed commuters use it for the train station.

Don't fall for the parking scam. There's a green car park named Queen that charges 12.5£/ 24hrs. On the other side of the fence is a red car park (next to the modern brick building) which is 9£ only. There is also a car park opposite on City Road which also is cheaper. Hotel staff, of course, will not tell you about their parking scam...

Parking confusing though as £24 on the main car park overnight , using the station car park which is the other side of the fence was £8 per night which we found out due a couple Infront of us at reception were discussing as had already paid the premium rate

Great hotel close to the centre, the staff were friendly, great size room for a family, and the breakfast had a good selection. Within walking distance of the centre and easy parking close to the hotel. Lovely touch of crisps and chocolate in the room on arrival and the cleaning staff were friendly checking in if we needed anything else, overall a great hotel to stay at!

The only slight negative was there was a smell in the bathroom

Such a beautiful building, its modern, yet decadent interior design is done in a high standard. Music plays quietly in the background to add to the ambience. I often stay at the Queen as it's always my first choice. I sit outside in the Courtyard with my Yorkshire Terrier, amongst the incredibly grand statues. Listening to the water fountain. Say hello to Queenie, the resident cat! She's so good-natured. I've always been fortunate to get the same room, and I sleep perfectly. I learnt about the history of the hotel, which makes my stay all the more interesting. As you can tell, I can't find fault. I look forward to my next visit soon. Thank you all!

Location was good. Room had aircon (paid extra for this) which was a lifesaver. Food was good but expensive. Parking right next to hotel* see below.

*The parking was a pain. Very confusing about rates. Asked at hotel reception (behind two other customers with same issues) and was told "the parking is not connected to the hotel and is run by another company". I already knew this and the young man on reception appeared as confused about the payments, as we were?!!! I FEEL THAT THE RECEPTION STAFF NEED SOME TRAINING ON WHAT TO TELL CUSTOMERS ABOUT HOW THE CAR PARK IS RUN AND WHAT THE COSTS ARE, rather that telling customers that the car park doesn't belong to the hotel?!!! Numerous customers told us they had received parking fines!!

Great location, clean, comfortable and spacious room, lovely breakfast, beautiful decor. Good base for exploring Chester.

Our room 1108 was above a function room. Loud music until 11 pm on our first night (a Thurs) which we found out was due to a Prom event. The next night, another party made even louder noise, with lots of people outside under our bedroom window. The phone in the room was not even connected (worrying if there was an emergency) and I never received a response to my whatsapp messages complaining about the noise and asking what time it may stop, whatsapp being a form of communication which guests are invited to use. I mentioned the issues at checkout and they apologised and made a note.

Location is good for hop on hop off bus for city tour. Room clean, bed comfortable. Shampoo, body wash and soap provided. Hotel is a spectacular building with lots of history

Refreshment tray not replenished for 2nd night. Informed on arrival to contact WhatsApp numbers for good, drink, reception, this was done at the hotel once we returned back to room from a long day. Still no answer 27 hours later and at home. Poor form. Did try 0 on phone, no answer, went to reception to be told that we could have coffee and milk sachets but snacks were only for the first night. Really ! How ridiculous, even though our second night cost more than the first, sachets delivered and half the amount of snack. May sound trivial but it was totally unnecessary for a twix and a packet of crisps between 2.

We enjoyed the restaurant the staff were very friendly and the food and wine was delicious. The room was very comfortable and clean. The tea and coffee facilities maybe could have had other choices such as fruit teas, hot chocolate. Usually we would expect to find some biscuits but instead we found a single packet of crisps! There were two of us staying. Either provide 2 packets or none at all.

Unfortunately we found the barman to be quite disinterested and unwelcoming. He didn't speak and converse with my husband so we only stayed for one drink after our dinner in the restaurant. We sensed that maybe he had wanted to close the bar a bit earlier. On Friday evening there was a function downstairs that was very loud which we might have been made aware of beforehand.

Pillows we're uncomfortable even with the extra 1 each. No bin bags in any bin. Our toiletries were not filled. No body wash. Luckily we had our own. Bulb blew in the bathroom. (Nobody's fault) Found someone's rubbish under the bed from previous occupant. Opted out of Housekeeping to recieve free drink, wasn't given this. No mini fridge or hooks for hanging coats/dressing gowns etc.
