Good size and location. Kitchen was helpful. Close to the city centre.

Walls were really dusty, and ants came into the kitchen. Everything else was clean though. Pool was closed because it was green and they didn’t really know why. Wasn’t planning on using it but probs good for future people to know.

Review for The Village Resort, Taupo, New Zealand The Village Resort in Taupo is nothing short of exceptional and easily one of the most memorable stays we’ve had in New Zealand. The highlight of the property is its unbeatable location—Lake Taupo is literally a stone’s throw away, and waking up to those serene, sparkling waters is an experience in itself. It truly feels like the lake is part of the resort. The rooms are incredibly spacious, immaculately clean, and well-maintained. Every detail—from the plush bedding to the modern decor—has been thoughtfully considered. The amenities provided in the room were top-notch: a fully equipped kitchenette, washer and dryer, comfortable lounging area, and even heated flooring in some units. It felt more like a well-appointed apartment than a hotel room. The on-site facilities are equally impressive. The heated outdoor pool was a hit with the kids, while the adults loved soaking in the large, well-maintained hot tub after a day of sightseeing. Everything about the resort—from check-in to check-out—was smooth, warm, and professional. Overall, if you're looking for comfort, convenience, and a front-row seat to Lake Taupo's beauty, The Village Resort delivers in every way. Highly recommended.

The only downside? It’s quite expensive, and understandably so given its premium location and offerings. You’ll also need to book well in advance, especially during peak travel seasons.

Checkin was very quick and easy, Paul & Carol were extremely engaging and professional offering loads of good advice about things to do in the area. The property was spotlessly clean and very well furnished, the kitchen had all of the necessary equipment to prepare meals during our stay and the beds were very comfortable. The property is very well located being about a 10/12 min walk from the town centre and has views across the lake. The housekeeping team did a great job in looking after us during our short visit. Overall this was an excellent stay and we would not hesitate in recommending the property to friends or family.

Nothing springs to mind

It’s a pleasant little resort just over the road from the lakefront, very nicely laid out with the properties in several blocks surrounded by flower beds. There’s a barbecue area for guests to use, and a small children’s playground. We had two villas and both were very nicely decorated, very spacious and clean. One was disabled access which worked well. The other one had a beautiful seating/kitchen area upstairs - so nice that we bought food to eat in especially to make the most of it as we only stayed a short time. Both properties had washing machines and dryers which was very convenient for us half way through a big road trip, and the receptionist was kind enough to give me a bit of extra detergent to save me buying a huge pack. We didn’t use the pool as it’s quite small and the lake is so close but it looked clean and pleasant to sit round. No shop or cafe but it’s not too far along the lakefront to get to the centre. We had a disabled scooter with us which slowed us down - for the able bodied it’s a really easy stroll.

Family-Friendly Amenities: Facilities such as a heated outdoor pool, spa pool, tennis court, playground, and BBQ area make it a great choice for families.

Limited Air Conditioning: While the living areas were comfortable, the bedroom lacked air conditioning, which could be a concern during warmer or cold nights. Would help having 2 luggage racks.

The proximity to the lake and town. Lovely large room, great shower and so nice to have a full kitchen.

We were on the bottom floor, by choice because we had our electric bikes, but the sounds from the upstairs apartment was disruptive when they woke in the morning. We could hear the toilet flushing, shower running and dining chairs being dragged across the floor which was magnified through our ceiling. They weren't doing anything overly noisy but I assume there's no insulation between us.

Great hosts. Paul & Carole are warm & welcoming. Centrally located, easy walk to shops, lake & markets we were in Unit 13. It’s tucked away from the street. Quiet & secluded. Easy parking outside the unit. The unit was bigger than expected with all amenities dishwasher, clothes washing machine & dryer. TV in the lounge & bedroom. We’ll equipped kitchen All clean & tidy Loved the Spa (thanks Paul). Swimming pool is outdoors but water is so warm even in winter. we were very happy with out stay will recommend & will definitely return

Location - right near the lake front, we enjoyed the short, flat walk into 'town' and stumbled across the markets on a Sunday morning. Parking was right outside the front door (no steps for our assigned room) which was amazing given we were travelling with an infant. The staff provided a portacot free of charge as well during our stay. There was a clothes drying rack in the room - we were on the road for a few weeks and needed places with washing facilities, not all places with washing machines have drying racks so we were very very pleased when we found one here. Our room was spacious and was a lot bigger than we expected, we got settled in pretty quick and it felt very homely. We loved our stay in Taupo!

We had a fantastic stay at The Village Resort Taupo, thanks to the wonderful new management by Carole and Paul. Despite only recently taking over, they handled an issue with our initial apartment promptly and efficiently, relocating us to a clean, comfortable, and quiet one-bedroom apartment that had everything we needed. Their dedication and attention to detail made our stay truly enjoyable and relaxing. We have no doubt that under their leadership, the resort will continue to improve and get even better. We would definitely recommend staying here and look forward to seeing how the resort thrives under their care!

This was actually much nicer than the Booking.com description implied. A very comfortable, clean, quiet and very spacious apartment, with a well fitted-out kitchen and laundry facilities. Good parking. The managers were really friendly too. Close to all the central city restaurants and a very short walk to the lake. Would happily stay here again, there's a lot to see and do in and around Taupo.

Luck of the draw, we were in one of the rear apartments, upstairs, but unfortunately no view of the lake. A minor issue, everything was great.
