The high-up view from the balcony was amazing. You can sit for hours and take in the beauty of the Alps, even with clouds about. It was nice to stay at an older, classy hotel and feel the atmosphere of a time gone by. It was convenient with travel luggage to have the busstop near the hotel.

It would be better to have a more visible sign 'Funny Farm' near the street. I missed it at first, while walking by, and then turned around and found it on the way back. 'Mattenhof' was the dominant sign at the front.

Given that this was a hostel, everything just exceeded our expectations: - great location: not in Interlaken itself but in Matten, hence pieceful. While still 20 min on foot from the center. Bakery (warm tasty food and coffee) and Coop (just food but also coffee) are 4 minutes away. - we were very lucky with the balcony in the room: the view was fantastic, and it was the top floor, and the balcony itself was big and covered. The bed was overlooking the balcony - you can see the mountains even from the bed. - the building itself was sharming - free parking - easy come and leave the city by car - we paid 1.5 to 2 times less than for other 4 places we stayed in Switzerland, while the location was the most central. - yes, the place looked to some extent worn out, but: it is in the end a hostel + look at all above.

The isolation was not ideal, so my husband could hear all the cars passing through in the night and could not sleep well. Earplugs is a must fot the light sleepers.

I originally booked 2 beds in a 4-bed dormitory, but to my surprise, I was upgraded to a completely private room! The room was spacious and comfortable, with a super comfy bed that made for some of the best sleep I’ve had while traveling. The whole place was spotless—especially the toilets and shared areas, which were impeccably clean. On top of that, the staff were incredibly friendly and cool, always ready to help and chat. Overall, Funny Farm Backpackers exceeded my expectations in every way. Highly recommend if you’re visiting Interlaken and want a laid-back, clean, and welcoming place to stay!

I requested for and was kindly given a room with a view of the mountains - it had a little balcony facing the mountains and also the beautiful landscaped garden of the hotel - just breathtaking! The hotel must have been a grand resort in yesteryears, now fallen on hard times and demoted to a 'hostel' - but still retains its olde worlde charm and grandeur in location and the central lobby, the grand staircase.

The room was of adequate size, as was the bathroom- but the fittings in the latter are a bit shabby, the cold water tap in the washbasin would not shut properly. The balcony was a delight, with a wonderful view- but surprisingly, its floor was just a plain unfinished cement floor- no serious inconvenience, but could be improved easily. The hotel is set a little distance away from both Interlaken Ost and West stations, you need the bus to get there, especially if travelling with luggage- the buses run only every 30 min, so you need to plan beforehand.

Staff was always available, room was comfortable and warm (I got to the city on a rainy day when the temperatures dropped), the hostel is on one of the mais bus routes in Interlaken. Some of the facilities would be great in warmer days, but just the fact that they're available is great! Didn't get the chance to see the dog some guests talked about, but that's just another excuse to come back!

Information and pictures were kinda different from what I got. They have many different room configurations under the same description (eg: 6 beds could be 3 bunk beds, 2 bunks and 2 singles etc).

- Thr location is super nice in the nature - There is free parking - The terrace is fantastic full with tables and umbrellas to sit outside - We were a group of 5 and we booked six bets to have a private room with toilet. We received an upgrade and we got a room which inside haw two separate rooms with balcony, which was fantastic for our group - There is a bar inside the hostel The park of the hostel is really nicr - The hostel is located in a old charming building with elevator - Very good value per money

- The mattresses were really thin and worn out - The bathroom inside the room was really small comparable to an airplane bathroom - The installations inside the room were quite basic

good value for money. they had a really nice backyard space and a balcony overlooking it. what was also good was the complementary cold and hot water always available plus microwave and cutlery facilities. we booked a 4 bedroom dorm for two beds and ended up being the only two people in the room across the three nights we booked, which was a bonus! there was even a band event one night in the courtyard which was random but really fun to watch

check in was at 4pm which felt a bit late. the bathtub didn’t have a plug so you couldn’t use it as a bath. there was only J type power plugs in the room but i asked reception for a C type converter and they supplied one for us to borrow straight away. the wifi dropped in and out every now and then but it was still manageable

I like that we were able to stay in a comfortable place. We were supposed to be in a bunk bed of 4 but then a small private room inside our dormitory suddenly became available. We were given a chance to transfer and have our own privacy which we love 🤍 Staffs are really accomodating and flexible in any request. Free bus transportation is a plus, really helpful for tourists - Thank you Switzerland 🇨🇭 Thank you so much Funny Farm 🙏

Just the noise outside the building from people who's drinking. We can hear everything inside the room 😅

The room and washroom were clean, and the price was affordable compared to other hotels. It's a great option for out night's stay. The balcony view was awesome, although it's likely similar to what you'd find at nearby hotels.Completely satisfied.

The bathroom was slightly messy, but it was manageable for me. However, the door can be tricky to close properly and might make a loud noise if forced, which could disturb others sharing the facility. Apart from this, the cleanliness was fine. The issue with the door and floor creaking is minor and can be easily overlooked.

It offers all needed facilities for a backpacker, including hot water kettle, recyclable plates, bowls and cutlery which are perfect for affordable meals with instant noodles in Switzerland. On the ground floor, there is a billiard table for some entertainment with an old dog sometimes running around or just laying down all the way. The staff is super friendly and supportive. One even give us a free billiards round. I also got a great view from the balcony - directly look at the Matterhorn. To sum up, it was a wonderful experience.
