The breakfast was really nice couldn't fault it everything that was on the plate was cooked to perfection. The room was lovely my girlfriend loved the fact there was a make up mirror in the room however the bathroom situation for our room was a little annoying with it being located outside the room I would definitely stay here again but probably not in the same room just because of the bathroom other than that it’s lovely there’s an Aldi just across the road if you need any bits and bobs and there’s a lovely canal walk down to the town centre which if you like a nice little walk this hotel is ideal for you

Lovely small hotel located just outside central York. There is a regular bus service to take you into the town centre. It's a very warm, comfortable hotel beautifully decorated and clean. There are so many additional little extras nothing has been forgotten. We received a warm, friendly welcome from Fiona. Who was so accommodating. Thank you so much for your help with parking it was so kind of you. We didn't stay for breakfast, unfortunately, as we were attending an event in the morning. We would highly recommend this hotel. It's also an excellent base to visit York and the surrounding areas and York races

The breakfast was superb, with the poached eggs cooked to perfection. The bed was very comfy with beautiful quality bedding & lovely towels Very convenient for the bus to & from York & a lovely walk in to the city bye the river. Fiona was friendly & helpful, little touches like packets of sweets & chocolates on the landings. The room & the public areas are very clean & tastefully decorated.

We didn’t find the circular sofa/ snuggle chair very comfy & thought it took too much space. Water stain on ceiling needed a lick of paint.

A lovely warm welcome on arrival. Very tastefully decorated with various complimentary bowls of sweets and chocolates in the hotel which was a very thoughtful gesture. Help yourself additional tea coffee and milk sachets. Very clean. Our room was absolutely immaculate, beautifully decorated with everything you need. Deep shower tray so no leaking out of water and plenty of hot water with a good flow of water from the shower. Comfortable bed with crisp white bedding. We would highly recommend. Had to dash off in the morning but still received a warm send off. Would book again in a heartbeat.

Ashbourne House was perfect for our weekend in York. The room was spotlessly clean and beautifully decorated. Comfortable bed. Fiona and Ricardo were warm, welcoming hosts. Nice little extras like biscuits and plenty of tea and coffee. It was also a nice touch having sweets, milk and toilet rolls that you could help yourself to on the way to the room. The breakfast was delicious and so filling that we did not need lunch! The guest house is a pleasant 25 minute river walk to the city centre.

Location in Fulford great for transport links to city centre of York.Small parking area on site but also available parking on a side street next to guest house. Fiona very welcoming on arrival. Room and bathroom extremely clean. Plenty of coffee ,tea milk etc. Beds very comfortable. Shower runs lovely and hot. Nice touches in bathroom, eg, room spray, cotton pads, shower wash etc.Plenty of storage in rooms. Large wall mounted TV. Didn't have breakfast on this visit but previous stays ,breakfast was excellent, made with local produce. Definitely will return.☺️

I'm so glad we found Ashbourne House. We've stayed in a lot of different B&Bs and hotels and quite a few in York. My wife said 'I think this is one of the best we've ever stayed in'. The bed was so comfortable I wished we'd stayed for more than one night! Fiona was very friendly and helpful. She recommended lots of places to eat. We ended up going to a restaurant on Bishy Road to celebrate our anniversary. The bathroom was spotlessly clean. I liked the little touches like sweets in dishes on the way to our room. Our room had its own little hallway with a code keypad on it. I loved the fob operated yale locks. The breakfast was so good. Excellent cooking skills in evidence. We can't wait to visit again.

The location of the hotel is perfect, it’s a lovely 30 min walk by the river to city centre, but if you wish to use public transport you have choice of a frequent bus service to city centre, and on street parking is free of charge and plenty space to park your car. Room was very cosy, very nicely furnished, you have everything you need to make your stay comfortable. The host Fiona is so kind and nice and will answer any of your questions. Breakfast was excellent and freshly made to order Can’t express enough how lovely this place is.

Room was good, not huge but big enough and had a nice big swivel chair in addition to comfy bed. Host was friendly, good quality items in room, location close to local shops and good to get into town walking or bus.

Parking was free but limited space (I think 2 spaces, 3 if small cars parked close together) and unbookable - I did get a spot so was fine for me but I don't know whether this works for everyone.

This was our second stay at Ashbourne House and we had a really lovely time. Great breakfast, really comfy bed and room. The couple who own it are brilliant and so lovely and nothing was to much trouble! We got the bus into York as it was only a 2 min walk to the bus stop so that made it much easier for trips in. Would 100% recommend Ashbourne House to anyone and will be back again hopefully in the future for another fabulous stay!
