Nice, comfortable room which was clean and had everything we needed. The dining room was a bit 'clinical' and quiet so we ate meals in the bar which was a little livelier. The hotel had a lot of character and history which was very interesting.
As 70 year olds, we found going up and down two flights of stairs a bit of a chore. There was no lift. When I booked, I thought the price was very reasonable. However, we were then charged extra for breakfast (which I presumed was included) and also charged £10 per night for our vehicle in the car park. This bumped up our costs quite significantly and I don't feel this was made clear to us when we booked the hotel on Booking.com.

The helpfulness and politeness of all the staff. The bar and dining facilities. It's quietness and comfort.
Tiny, narrow twin beds. Lovely choice for breakfast but the cooked breakfast was disappointing with over-cooked bacon, value beans, a half-slice of black pudding, half a tomato and stewed mushrooms. All this served on a plate which was dangerously hot and continued to cook what looked like a perfectly prepared poached egg.

Everything including the decor , rooms , reception and bedrooms
Great to see you have Guinness on draught now, always nice after a busy day out . £6.60 and pint versus £4.60 in the local pub 50m away , I get hotel prices as I travel a lot ,

Really nice welcome, nothing was too much trouble for the team, available 24/7 and it was a really nice, comfortable and a real hotel. Street parking was available and there is a good bus service into the City Centre, just be careful after eight pm as the buses shorten and an Uber/taxi might be more convenient. My son and fiancee claimed and even quieter and comfy three nights than we had!
Didnt mention to the team but the person in the room directly above us decided to walk up and down, creaking away in their room at the oddest hours of the night, anything from midnight to 5 am, not all night but for up to an hour at a time. Selfish people who are unfortunate to have issues should have requested a ground floor room where they could walk to their hearts content.

Really nice little ‘flat’. Cooker, 2 tvs. Adjustable heating. Opening windows. Lovely shower. Hot water. Tissues. Toiletries (we didn’t use) sponge and washing up liquid. Decent sized cups. Fridge. Nice garden out the back but we didn’t use it. Not sure it was accesible for our flat but nice view! Good location. Bus route into town. Value for money (parking should be included)
on a main noisy road. The doors banging lots and hearing other patrons going up and down stairs. We were at the front on the ground floor. No teatowel to dry pots. Parking is extra. £15. You don’t see that on booking unless you click on a link. It should be on the main page so no surprises when you arrive. Limited parking. If you want the sofa bed made up, that’s another £20-take your own bedding.

I stayed here previously for a conference, and enjoyed the environment - it feels like it’s outside the city, with fields and pubs nearby. But it’s really not that far from the city. So for an informal planning meeting a colleague and I decided to return here. I love the pub, The Plough, just a few minutes’ walk away. And the staff are friendly. It’s often booked for weddings so there is a happy vibe. And if you don’t mind a bit of a walk, the city centre or one of the University campuses is within striking distance.
Nothing. Every room has amenities for living, it’s clean, and there is even drawing rooms with comfortable chairs to hang out in.

The buffet bar had a good choice of food and you could return as often as you wanted. The drink machine was brilliant! Had I stayed a bit longer I would have tried other cooked breakfasts as they were cooked to order and looked really tasty.
I did try the full English breakfast but was disappointed to find it warm rather than hot and not freshly cooked. The portions were generous...just could have been better. The main grumble I had was the add on cost of car parking. I thought £15 a day was far too much and made alternative arrangements.

Excellent location, easy to get into York and to the university. The kitchenette was very useful for us and the accommodation was spacious. Very comfortable bed and little noise despite being on busy road. We slept well!
Car park was full when we arrived (Saturday afternoon) and the receptionist promised to call when there was a space available, this never happened. We eventually moved from the road for the second night as needed to use the electric charger before our return journey. Disappointing these are not reserved for electric vehicles, a staff land rover was parked there on both days too. The crockery in the kitchenette was dirty and we had to wash everything on arrival. Sofa very old, the accommodation generally could do with a refurb.

Staff were lovely and very friendly! The room was amazing value for money and the hotel itself is beautiful. Everywhere was clean and the room was well equipped with fresh towels, toiletries and coffee. We also had a card and box of chocolates in our room as the hotel knew it was a celebratory trip, this was a lovely touch.
Our only complaint was that the ceiling looked like it had water stains and when we checked it was sticky marks. The bed sheets were also quite thin but luckily our room was warm enough! I’m not sure what was the issue with the ceiling but it didn’t bother us and other than that the room was lovely!

Exceeded our expectations. Very comfortable. Great breakfast with multiple options. Also had dinner there a few nights. The staff were friendly and efficient. Even though it was a 45-minute walk from the city centre, it was no problem. The number 7 bus stops right in front and runs every 10-15 minutes. It takes you right to the railway station. We used it often. £2 fare per person. The walk in was wonderful. Either along the river or on the street. So much to see.
There was nothing that I would complain about.
