Studio apartment was perfect for our needs. All the amenities were there. Spacious and well equipped. 10 minutes walk to the beautiful Hagley Park where there is a Botanical Garden to enjoy the many varieties of flowers in full bloom. The hostess was charming and very helpful. The breakfast was a continental type and it was ample. There is even a laundry for guests to use.. The Riccarton area where the B&B is located offers a number of restaurants where you can eat.

The security of the back door could be improved.

We arrived in Christchurch a lot later than we anticipated due to a Cyclone hampering our trip. With communication to the property owners we made arrangements to collect the keys from a key box. It was there and we had good directions to our room. The room was large, 2 beds as requested. We didnt arrive until 1.30am and we had to be elsewhere at 9,30. Breakfast was delivered at 8.30 which was excellent. They also arranged for a taxi to the car rental place.

Older facilities, but really clean and well kept.

I travelled to Christchurch to take some days off. The motel was very nice for the purposes I needed it. The room I rented had a kitchen and cooking appliances and a small outside area on the back; it was spacious and had a nice shower. It also has a laundry service, which is quite cheap. The location was perfect, very close to the city center but also to all the roads to get into the highways easily. The communication with the motel staff was good and friendly.

The only thing that annoyed me was that the internet connection was not fast enough to stream movies or series easily or have a smooth Zoom call.

This is an authentic late 60s -early 70s motel here replete with tan plastic bathroom fittings. (Original, by the look) and matching curtains. It's the real deal, just like the 70s but with wifi and a flatscreen. I felt like I was in a movie ('all the president's men's' or 'no country for old men'?) If you are into this, you will love it here. In addition, staff are super helpful, the rooms were spotless. A bunch of restaurants nearby.

I loved it! But it's a very particular, very authentic aesthetic that you may not be looking for. 'Are you looking for a 1970s motel?' is the question.

The Aalton Motel was the perfect accommodation for a short stay in Christchurch. It is a very beautiful 25 minute walk through the park and botanical Gardens to the centre of Christchurch. We found everything we needed in the motel and had a very comfortable night sleep. Our host was exceptionally helpful and provided us with the ideal breakfast. Nothing was too much trouble and I would like to thank them very much for making our stay so welcoming and comfortable.

I can’t think of anything negative to say about the property. If we return to Christchurch in the future, we would have no hesitation in staying at the Aalton Motel again.

Friendly staff/owners. Flexible as arrived early. Mentioned local shopping mall and directions - I didn't know my way around city. Quiet, warm CLEAN. Parking outside. Safe as was staying alone. This is not 5 star hotel but it is 5 star hosting. It is also excellent value so very close to main arterial route. Breakfast was yummy and tea and coffee faciliites perfect for quick cuppa. I left behind clothing and they rang me only 1.5 hours after I left - so just as I was boarding, prompt and honest to deal with. Thank you!

Nothing. Met all my needs.

The motel is a basic property. Our unit was spacious and had all the amenities we needed. The cleaning staff did a very good job. The staff were so helpful, including arranging a private driver to the airport. To get to the CBD, we walked through the park, but the bus stops are just outside. We would stay again

I always stay here for the beer festival, the price is very reasonable and the units are spacious and comfortable, if a little basic. Customer service is always top notch too

My only complaint is the units are hot in the height of summer. I'll have to book a stay in winter as I've seen other reviews saying they were nice and warm when cold out!

Location is great, staff were responsive. We comfortable. Kitchen was handy and reasonably stocked with appliances etc.

Needs some tidying. Outdoor courtyard was overgrown and one of the chairs was broken. Inside was quite dated but comfortable. Some cleaning of corners and hard to reach places would be a good idea.
