Great location, comfy and not so noisy while we were there. Near the botanical gardens and lots of food choices. Good place to stay at Christchurch! A suggestion would be a small room heater inside the bedroom. The heat pump was in the main area, so we kept the door open to heat both rooms up. Not a biggie as the room warmed up alright after. I just like keeping the door closed. :) Another thing we like is how we actually got to watch on Netflix and it wasn't just another button on the remote. Overall, we were happy with our stay and we look forward to staying there again during our next visit!

Location good for the city, however, it is easier to walk than use a car. Hagley Park is just over the road, ideal for walks. Comfortable beds Helpful owners, did an early morning complimentary shuttle to and from the train station for the Tranzalpine train.

Although location is central, this does mean there is road noise at various times. Soundproofing could be better - heard some noise from other residents moving around Rooms good size but decor needs updating Shower, bathroom, toilet area needs updating, they are separate but very cramped. Shower was disappointing. Laundry facilities are expensive compared with other motels.

We loved the location and the proximity to the park, restaurants and bus lines. The room had a kitchenette equipped with everything we needed and a small market nearby had everything. Our hostess was a wonderful lady-friendly and accommodating. They even had a tidy little laundry room which we took advantage of. Parking was easy and free. Also, the Thai restaurant around the corner was awesome! We didn't have a lot of time in Christchuch, but we could have enjoyed a week, or even a month at the Argyle!

There is nothing that we didn't like. Nor is there anything we'd say needed improvement. This place far exceeded our expectations. That's it!

I have stayed at the Argyle of the Park every time I have come to NZ since 2002 under two different owners. Lena and Peter have made a number of very pleasant changes, but have continued the tradition of superb customer service. They are both a delight and are always very helpful and accommodating to get me the room I prefer. Always very clean. The location is perfect for me, near the bus stop for when I don't have a car, near the park, near the train station. Wash machine and drying area outside available. Very willing to let me check in early, especially when I arrive the first day after a 36 hour trip from the US.

While part of the good location is the fact they are near a pretty busy street, Deans Ave, they have double glazed windows and air conditioning, so you can block out most of the road noise. I use a sound machine as well and never have a problem with the road noise, but have read other reviews that comment on it.

Motel was in excellent location to explore Christchurch. Close to Botanic Gardens, Westfield & main roads. Cooking facilities helped save money on eating out. It was warm & comfortable. Staff friendly & helpful.

There is no rangehood over stove. Needed to open windows. There is no extractor fan in the bathroom. No visible smoke detectors sighted. Unit a bit dated. It was functional for our family.

The beds were very comfortable, firm but soft. We all enjoyed a very good sleep. We arrived late, after the office closed, but the staff put a welcome note on the office door for us with full instructions on where to find the key.

No fan in the bathroom or toilet and no door between the toilet and bathroom nad no flywire on the windows. We had to keep the windows in the bathroom and toilet open for ventilation. Luckily it wasn't too cold and we didn't have any problems with mozzies or flies.

Location was very convenient. Just across Hagley Park. Walking distance to city centre -15-20 min across the park. 15 min drive to the international airport. Rental car city location was 5min drive/15min walk so we could just drop off our car and walk back. Convenience store and food options within 5min walking distance. Beds were very comfortable. Kitchen was well equipped.

Shower area was not great. The water spilled over to the dry area. The room was a bit dated.

Close to where we want to go. Park across the road. Walking distance to shops and restaurants. We arrived early and was allowed to check-in. They have done their best to make the room ready .Makes a difference to us who haven't had a good sleep and tired from working the day before.

Well it did not start well, I guess Lena was concerned that the place was not suitable to our sons needs and i still go ahead with the booking .Reason I have explained to staff I've spoken prior to arriving. All is well in the end.

The location is great. Handy little 10 kin walk to the hospital and Riccarton is just around the corner. The motel was quiet, bed was comfy, lovely comfy lounge suite. I cant fault the apartment and hosts. Very quiet between units.

Because it was close to the intersection traffic lights, there were a lot of sirens throughout the night. It's not a fault of the motel, just city traffic. We're from rural Westport so we aren't used to traffic. Apart from that it was very quiet.

Rooms were clean, comfortable and spacious. Good parking available at the motel and great location for walking to downtown Christchurch (through the park/botanical gardens area).

Walking back from downtown Christchurch to the motel at night through the dark park area was a bit unnerving. We were travelling as a group so we weren't too worried but it could be more of a concern for solo travelers.
