Staff was superb and helpful. They were always ready to assist . Hotel walking distance to restaurants, historical sites, local train station, tour meeting places and ethnic neighborhoods.

For some reason we had to move rooms mid-stay. First room was spacious, clean, bright with excellent views. The second room “Pool” was small, dark with defective flush mechanism and an electrical outlet loose in bathroom loose and hanging partially open. There is wide variety in room quality so when booking request the better accommodation. Hotel on a narrow dead-end street making vehicle pick up and drop off difficult

The hotel is in the perfect location to experience Lisbon. Easy to walk everywhere from here. Our second favorite was the jacuzzi - we had the Jacuzzi III room. After walking the city each day, we soaked in it every evening to watch the sunset over the city. It was the highlight of our time at the hotel. Breakfast was also great. We recommend this hotel for the perfect location, the jacuzzi rooms, and great breakfast.

The main thing we didn't like was the noise. Our room was over the steps leading down to the train with many restaurants below, and we were kept up many times in the middle of the night with drunk people below our window still drinking at the restaurants for hours into the night, sometimes until 2 AM. For some reason, the restaurants didn't ask them them leave or be quiet. Also, you have to reserve the spa, and they forgot to turn on the sauna, steam room, and hot tub for us during our time, so that was a miss and frustrating when we rushed back to the hotel to get our one hour in. They could also use some rugs in the rooms since floors are slippery and for more comfort.

From the minute I booked this accommodation the service has been incredible. I emailed requesting a few special requests and they responded promptly. When we arrived, although it took a moment to find the hidden gem, we were blown away! The rooms are incredible, I highly recommend the jacuzzi rooms! The honesty bar is lovely! The breakfast is delicious, the spa is amazing and the whole property is so clean and romantic. The spa is a lovely added touch with steam room, sauna and jacuzzi and a lovely place to relax after a long day. In the rooms there is a full mini bar, coffee machine and complimentary wine. The beds are so comfortable, the linens and towels of great quality. The attention to detail is phenomenal. The pool is a little smaller than the pictures give the impression of but this didn’t matter as we used our terrace to sunbath and rest!

Two minor items to feedback, only because we loved it so much and think these couple of things could make it even better! 1( It was difficult to find… could do with a bigger sign.. & 2) taxi’s couldn’t come to the property.

I describe Casa Balthazar as an oasis or sanctuary escape in the city. Our room had a family room and private patio with an in ground jacuzzi and reclining chairs. After a day of sightseeing and walking up and down the steep streets, it was amazing to come back for relaxation! The breakfast room and shared pool area was just beautiful! There was coffee, tea and scrumptious cake offered throughout the day and evening. The breakfast buffet was one of the best we had in Portugal! The service was lovely. It was our 1st destination on our tour through Portugal, and it was one of the best hotels we stayed at! Thank you to the staff!

This hotel was like a hidden gem in the middle of Lisbon. Walking through the non descrip front door you walk into a walled compound with a large parking area, nice grounds and overall lots of space. We had a room with a view of the city, it was fantastic - quiet, comfy bed. The common areas were super cute and very relaxing, including the small pool. I also personally used the spa a couple of times which was also great. I would definitely stay again.

My wife and I split up one night because she was tired so I went out to a bar to watch rugby. She took the key to the room and I had a second key to enter the compound. However once inside the walls I still needed to pass through the office to get to the door to our room and the front office door was locked. It was a pretty big hassle actually. Fortunately another guest eventually came by so I could get in but there needs to be a solution for this sort of scenario. A slight upgrade on the gym by adding some dumbells would be a good improvement to the spa.

We fell in love with Casa Balthazar for it's very human, personal atmosphere - something you rarely find in big chain hotels. A big part of that feeling came from Yuran, the kind and helpful young man at the reception. Always smiling, attentive and ready to assist, he made us feel truly welcome from the moment we arrived to the evening before our early departure. We felt truly cared for. Beautifully served breakfast was delicious and generous, there is always a coffee and tea and a cake that you cannot resist available in a common area near reception. Our room was tastefully decorated and the bedding and linens were impeccable. It felt like staying in someone's beautiful home than a hotel. We were sad to leave. Thank you, dear Casa Balthazar!

Nothing I can think of

The hotel staff were exceptional. We were arrived in Lisbon after a tiring flight, were dropped off by Uber around the corner and were unsure of the best way to get to the hotel with our heavy luggage. We called and a minute later, a brawny guy came to our rescue and carried our luggage to the hotel with a smile. All the staff were helpful with great recommendations for dinners etc. The bed was exceptionally comfortable and the linens special. The water was fiercely hot. The bathroom fixtures looked brand new. Breakfast is in a lovely room. Fresh squeezed orange juice, honey dripping from a honey comb and a nice viariety of fruits, breads, made to order omelets etc. Again the staff could not be more accommodating. We visited at a very hot time of year and the AC made the room fiercely cold. Yay! The location is ideal for walking everywhere you want to be in Lisbon.

There was a beautiful free spa with steam room, sauna and "hot tub". The hot tub is at 89F (which I think now is typical for Portugal?) We would have gone in if it were over 100F.

Casa Balthazar is a true urban oasis. The location on a quiet street is just the beginning. The beautifully designed rooms throughout the house, the pool, the preserved historic architecture, the spacious and incredibly clean rooms, as well as the spa facilities make for the most relaxing stay. Breakfast is wonderful! The staff at Casa Balthazar are so welcoming and accommodating. They went above and beyond to handle a critical laundry need for us, alleviating a substantial source of stress from our trip. We had action packed days, and it was so relaxing to return to Casa Balthazar for an afternoon coffee, slice of cake, dip in the pool, or rest in our spacious room. The bed was extremely comfortable and air conditioning was exceptional. Thank you to the wonderful team at Casa Balthazar!

Nothing at all!

It is daunting to be a first-time visitor to a foreign city as large as Lisbon, but Casa Balthazar proved to be an exceptional home away from home. Our suite's spaciousness and comfort exceeded our expectations, and the oasis-like setting of the complex is fantastic. We enjoyed starting our day with our lattes and expressos in the exquisite breakfast area, always served promptly by enthusiastic staff. Likewise, the front desk staff, including Maria (manager), Paul, Yuran, and Rui, were exceedingly helpful and attentive to our needs. If my wife and I were to ever return to Lisbon again, we would definitely choose Casa Balthazar in a heartbeat.

We liked everything! Location was perfect, the staff went above and beyond, the breakfast was delicious, the room was spacious and beautiful! It was like stepping into an oasis from the street.
