Absolutely amazing experience. We went for Taylor Swift Eras Tour. They made the experience so smooth. Starting with an easy early check-in to get ready, cookies, the photo booth, everything was amazing. Thank you Clayton Cardiff. You rate 10/10 on hospitality! Please spread your energy to the rest of the UK.

Lovely helpful staff. Comfy bed. Big room. Great central position.

Air conditioning went off at midnight and my room on 9th floor was very hot. Phoned down at 2am and they put it back on.. Shower was over the bath which I'm not keen on

The hotel has a great location. One side is on the railway tracks and quieter! The other is facing the city and right opposite a 'Spoons and another place across the street, the Peppermint Lounge (or something like that). They were lively of an evening. However, you can't fault the location being but a hop, skip and a jump to the city. Comfortable room, good bed. I would also like to note that there are a large number of electrical sockets, certainly in the room I had. (704). Usually, there is next to nothing so well done on that little detail. The breakfast is good although the hotel restaurant is heaving on a Sunday morning. I am saying that I like this hotel, I would stay here again and would select a room on the train-spotting side of the hotel. If I was staying over a weekend, I would probably make my own arrangements for breakfast too.

After all the good things about this hotel, the bathroom is the achilles heel. Or let's say twisted heel. Who at Clayton thought it a good idea to put an ordinary bath in the bathroom? I guess if you like soaking in the tub for a while, it is great but the bath narrows towards the plug and the taps. Consequently the floor of the bath is curved and you find yourself standing at a twisted angle to maintain footing. I've seen baths (and stayed at hotels) where the plug end is flat and more square, thus allowing standing under the shower. Here's an idea - what about installing walk-in showers instead of baths? Guests with upcoming stays get bombarded with offers of rooms on a high floor and so on. Have some shower only rooms and offer those as a selection.

Could be one of the best hotels I have ever stayed at. And I have stayed all over the world in supposed 5* hotels! Every single staff member could not be nicer, as I am on an extended stay, I was treated like a friend almost, as virtually all staff remembered me and would chat, while still being busy and professional. Nothing was too much, it was like being with friends than “suppliers”! And cost friendly 😀

Expensive on “event weekends” - but that applies everywhere! Only 2 lifts, which can be a tad erratic - take the stairs if you can, (I can’t) Food / Drinks are a bit pricey - my supper was £65! But other options are nearby!

I checked in via the lobby machine and was allocated a noisy room. Also the safe was not working. The reception staff allocated me another room. This was done immediately and without question so thank you for that.

My second room was 825. Literally right nextdoor to a storage room where the cleaners have their stuff, clean sheets, etc. They are ultra noisy. Don't take this room if you want peace and quiet. They do stop around 6pm. Noisy drunk punters shouting, ie having a conversation with each other in the corridors at all hours but the hotel is not responsible for loud idiots. 825 is also an inner room with no view, no sunlight and needing the lights on all the time.

Most of the staff were polite and very helpful. Great location. Very clean. Nice room and comfortable beds.

Fire alarm went off twice by mistake throughout our stay. We were told when we arrived that breakfast was included, but when we got to breakfast we were told it wasn’t! Tricky getting in/out of the shower as the shower door didn’t open outwards and the gap to get in/out wasn’t easily accessible. The shower itself didn’t have very good flow at all. However none of these ruined our stay.

Wasn't fused on the breakfast we only had breakfast on our check out morning found the food to be cold and not a good selection of hot cooked breakfast idems available But have to say we had dinner in the hotel on our last evening and the food was excellent was the best meal we had the whole trip 😋 I also have returned home and have a few bites on my right thigh and leg 🙃

Booked to stay here for mothers Day, but unfortunately, on the night, one of the guests fell ill in the room and was sick in the room. Plus, the air conditioning wasn't working. Rang reception and informed them of this, and they were really friendly and understanding, so they gave us a corner room, which was so much better. Light, spacious, and really calming. The menu in the hotel restaurant has been changed since last time we stayed in November 2024 with slight food price increases but still enjoyed it.

Our first room was hot due to the air conditioning not working but this was resolved.

Great location as we arrived by train to Cardiff (right opposite the train station). Check in and check out was prompt and efficient. Staff where friendly and attentive. We were able to store our luggage prior to check in (arrived earlier than check in time) and after check out time (wanted to do some shopping), which was really helpful and much appreciated! Breakfast was included in our stay and it was very tasty! The pastries were not fresh however we did attend later in the morning so I suspect that may be why. Would definitely recommend and stay here again! Thank you

Convenience, clean, comfortable, price.

Arrived after a long day at work around 5pm. Checked in. Staff decided to change my double room without telling me to a triple single room, i need a double bed, I was in pain and had heavy luggage to carry, also the phone in the room didn’t work. I called via my mobile and was told I’d booked that room but they would change it (but they only had an interlocking double room) and I had to go back to reception. I got to reception and showed them my booking was a double room, I was then told it was changed as it was quieter, but it really did waste my time and caused more pain. I advised they could had told me, I would have said no, had a muffled apology but it didn’t feel genuine. I felt a bit let down by staff.
